Course Description: This unit covers the skills, knowledge and
attitudes required welding carbon steel plates and pipes using
SMAW process.

Trainee Entry :
Trainees or students wishing to gain entry into this course should pos-
sess the following requirements:

Facilities:
The welding workshop must be of concrete structure. Based on class size of
25 students/trainees the space requirements for the teaching/learning and circulation
areas are as follows:

Qualification of Instructors/Trainers:

 Must be a holder of SMAW Welder II


 Must have undergone training on Training Methodology II (TM II)
 Must be physically and mentally fit
 *Must have at least 2 years job/industry experience
 Must be a civil service eligible (for government position or appropriate professional
license issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission)
* Optional. Only when required by the hiring institution
