ABSTRACT:
Quantity surveying is of paramount importance to deliver the efficiency of projects along with financial
arrangements before the actual execution of the project. To do the complete estimation analysis of any
project there is a great importance of quantity surveying. This project is concerned with the
determination of quantities of a single storey building being located District Dir Temargarah, Pakistan.
The quantities include earthwork excavations in foundation, PCC in foundation, footing, RCC columns,
RCC beams at ground level, DPC at plinth level, RCC column in superstructure, RCC beams at slab
level. RCC slab, Earth filling up to plinth, Brick wall from GL to Pl, Brick work in super structure,
windows, doors, and parapet wall. The building has two bedrooms, 1 guest room, 1 drawing room, 1
kitchen, two bathrooms, 1 car porch and stairs. Isolated column footings are used to distribute the
building load to the foundations.

1. Introduction
Quantity surveying and cost estimation help to work out the approximate cost of the project in order
to decide its feasibility with respect to the cost and to ensure the financial resources, if the proposal is
approved. Requirements of controlled materials, such as cement and steel can be estimated for
making applications to the controlling authorities. It is used for framing the tenders for the works and
to check contractor’s work during and after the its execution for the purpose of making payments to
the contractor. From quantities of different items of work calculated in detailed estimation, resources
are allocated to different activities of the project and ultimately their durations and whole planning
and scheduling of the project is carried out.
2. Statement of Purpose
Estimation is the scientific way of working out the approximate cost of an engineering project before
execution of the work. This project is concerned with the determination of quantities of a single
storey building being located District Dir Temargarah, Pakistan. The quantities include earthwork
excavations in foundation, PCC in foundation, footing, RCC columns, RCC beams at ground
level, DPC at plinth level, RCC column in superstructure, RCC beams at slab level. RCC slab,
Earth filling up to plinth, Brick wall from GL to Pl, Brick work in super structure, windows,
doors, and parapet wall. The building has two bedrooms, 1 guest room, 1 drawing room, 1
kitchen, two bathrooms, 1 car porch and stairs. Isolated column footings are used to distribute the
building load to the foundations.
3. Objectives
The main objectives of this project are:
1) To find out the approximate total cost of the building before execution.
1. To determine the quantities of materials used in a building.
