Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

I. Engage

Review

Who can remember what we’ve discussed last About Heat Energy
week?

Now, let us try to do a simple activity to help

you freshen up and recall your past lesson. Are Yes, Ma’am
you ready?

Directions: Give at least five examples of heat

energy using the graphic organizer.
Sun
Star
Flashlights
Cellphones
Mushroom

Motivation

Directions: Let the student play 4 pics and 1

word and let them unlock the hidden words out
of the pictures.

1. L_ G _ T

Light

2. S_ _

Sun

3. _ T _ R

Star

4. M_S__O_M
C Mushrooms
Bulb
5. B U _ _ _

What did you noticed with the words you

unlocked? There are the things that produces light.
In the present-day, do you think we can live
without a light? Why Yes/No – Answers may vary
Why is light important?
The human body needs to be exposed to natural
sunlight and its rhythm to function properly.
Light is essential to our health and wellbeing; it
regulates our sleep-wake cycle.
Light is very important to life on Earth. Using
the energy of light, plants make their own food
through photosynthesis.

II. Explore

Group Activity

LET’S ENUMERATE!
Directions: Each group will enumerate some
uses of light energy using the diagram. Write
your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
Help us to see our surroundings.
Light our house
Light regulates our sleep-wake cycle.

III. Explain

Light is a form of energy.

It travels in waves in the form

of electromagnetic radiation. It radiates in any

direction. It can pass through a clear glass or
any transparent material. Light ray travels out
from its source in a straight line and it is the
only form of energy visible to the human eye.

What are the some Sources of Light?

Light is a form of energy that helps us to see all

the things around us. Light can come from
different sources. Let us look at some of these
sources now.

The natural sources of light include the sun,

stars, fire, and electricity in storms. There are
even some animals and plants that can create
their own light, such as fireflies, jellyfish, and
mushrooms. This is called bioluminescence.

Artificial light is created by humans. Flashlights,

table lamps, neon signs, and televisions are
some sources of artificial light

Can you differentiate artificial light to natural The main distinction between natural and
light? artificial light lies in their sources. Natural
light, as the name suggests, comes from a
natural source, while artificial light is generated
from an electrical source.

V. Elaborate

Application

Activity 1: IDENTIFY ME!

Directions: Write NL if the picture shows a
natural light source and AL if it does not. Write 1. NL
your answers on a separate sheet of paper. 2. AL
3. AL
4. NL
5. NL

Generalization

What is light energy and why is it important to

Light energy is a form of electromagnetic
our life?
radiation that can be seen by the human eye. But
there are also many commercial and scientific
uses of light energy, some of which are listed
below.

Food - Light is the only source of food

generation for all living organisms.

Vision - Any organism can view the objects

around them due to the presence of eyes. But
these might be useless without light.

Colors - The whole world is beautiful due to

colours, and all these colours are possible due to
light. The light consists of many spectra; every
spectrum has an individual colour, broadly
specified as VIBGYOR.

VI. Evaluate

1.1 Direction: Give five example of materials

that produce light energy.

1. ______________________
2. ______________________
3. ______________________
4. ______________________
5. ______________________

VII. Extend

H. Assignment

Assignment: GIVE ME FIVE 5!

Directions: List down at least five sources of
light energy using the graphic organizer. Write
your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
