1. Description
A. Phase 17 consists of items to be inspected every 10,000 hours.
B. Inspection items are listed in order of the zone in which the inspection is to be performed. A descriptive statement of
the inspection requirement and the Item Code Number for cross reference to section 5-10-01 is provided. In many
instances, tasks define more specifically the scope and extent of each required inspection. These tasks are printed in
the individual chapters of this manual.
C. The right portion of each page provides room for the mechanic's and inspector's initials and remarks. These pages
may be reproduced as a checklist for use when performing this inspection phase.
2. General Inspection Criteria
A. As you complete each of the inspection tasks in this Inspection Phase, examine the adjacent area while access is
available to find conditions that need more maintenance.
B. If it is necessary to replace a component or to make a change to a system while you complete a task, do the task
again before the system or component is returned to service.

3. Cabin Bulkheads and Stringers Inspection (Above the Cabin Floor)
A. Inspect Cabin Bulkheads and Stringers.
(1) All interior furnishings, cabin upholstery and floor access panels must be removed in order to comply with this
inspection.
(2) Visually inspect the cabin bulkheads and stringers for cracks, corrosion, loose or failed fasteners, or evidence of
structural damage.
NOTE: When checking for corrosion, pay particular attention to areas where moisture may collect.
(3) Visually inspect all wiring in accordance with Task 20-21-03-210.
(4) Visually inspect all lines, ducts, and hoses in accordance with Task 20-10-06-210.
(5) Restore access as required.

6. Horizontal Stabilizer Attach Fitting Inspection
A. Access.
(1) Remove the horizontal stabilizer from the airplane and set on a suitable surface. Refer to Horizontal Stabilizer -
Maintenance Practices.
B. Inspect Horizontal Stabilizer Attach Fitting. (Refer to Figure 602).
(1) Remove the shims installed on the attach fitting (Part Number 5531007). Identify shims by location for reuse.
Refer to Horizontal Stabilizer - Maintenance Practices for details.
(2) Inspect for fatigue cracks around the fastener holes using the Eddy Current Method. Use the applicable test
procedure as described in the Model 500 Series Nondestructive Testing manual, Part 6, Horizontal Stabilizer
and Attach Fitting.
(3) Reinstall shims. Refer to Horizontal Stabilizer - Maintenance Practices.
(4) Reinstall horizontal stabilizer. Refer to Horizontal Stabilizer - Maintenance Practices.
(5) Restore access as required.
