Table 2a shows the monthly precipitation (mm) of Chongqing and Tianjin in China. Figure 2b is
a GIS map of water scarcity across China with the locations of the two cities marked. Table 2c
shows some basic socio-economic information of the two cities.

Compare the temperature and rainfall characteristics between the equatorial regions and Hong
Kong. Discuss the relative importance of insolation in affecting the temperature and rainfall
characteristics of the equatorial regions. (12 marks)
