This Section of this Part of BS AU 50, prepared under the direction of the
Automobile Standards Committee, is identical with ISO 4570- 3: 1 980 “Tyre v alv e

1 7V3, 1 9V1 , 20V1 ” published by the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO). Sections 1 , 2 and 3 of this Part deal with valve
dimensions. Other Parts of the standard are:
— Part 1 : Tyres;
— Part 2: Wheels and rim s.
ISO 4570- 3: 1 980 (E)/Erratum was implemented as Amendment No. 1 to this
standard.
Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has
been approved as suitable for publication, without deviation, as a
British Standard. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical
with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the
following.
Where the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard,
they should be read as “British Standard”.
The comma has been used throughout as a decimal marker. In British Standards
it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker.

5 Thread gauging
5 .1 Threads 1 0V1 , 1 5V1 , 1 7V1 and 20V1 should be verified according to the specifications given below.
The minimum and maximum values have been calculated to make it possible to apply the limit gauge
inspection principles specified in ISO 1 502 to the threads 1 0V1 , 1 5V1 , 1 7V1 and 20V1 .
For the elaboration of the gauges, the following tolerances extracted from ISO 1 502 have been chosen:
— pitch diameter of external thread (d) 2 24 4m < Td 2
< 50 4m
— outside diameter of external thread (d) 36 4m < T d < 85 4m
— pitch diameter of internal thread (D ) 2
24 T
4m < D2 < 50 4m
— inside diameter of internal thread (D ) 1
38 4m < T D1 < 1 00 4m
5 .2 Threads 8V2, 1 1 V1 , 1 3V2, 1 6V1 , 1 7V2, 1 7V3, 1 9V1 , should be verified according ANSI B1 . 2.
