Hi, Is there a nice way of stopping or restarting misterhouse from the command line without a 'kill' command? Obviously I'm in the UNIX world. Thanks, Jon |

David, i agree with you ; that could works fine with other weather stations. So, i am going to make the change next weekend and i will used the %variables instead. Let me just 1 or 2 weeks ! Initially, I created the _ws variables for my own french usage to store the data in french unit of measure (not mph but km/h, not inch but cm, etc...). I will make the appropriated conversions from %Weather variables in the graph script according to the default_uom_xxxx parameters (for windspeed : km/h in my case and probably mph in your case) > Also, have you seen Alan Jackson's weather graphing code? > http://www.oplnk.net/~ajackson/weather_tools/ Thanks for this link, i like the Rose Diagrams for displaying wind direction. Perhaps, it's easy to use Rose.pm package with a source RRD database. Dominique. |

First of all, thanks for MH!! I have several 2-Way SwitchLink X10 Dimmers and would like to keep track of the status. If X10_SwitchLink->set(##%) is called, the appropriate PRESET_DIM commands are sent to the controller. When the switch is adjusted manually (decora button tapped) and sends an OFF/ON, then the status with MH is set correctly. However, if the button is held (PRESET_DIM sent) the status does not reflect the new state. The incoming data (e.g. XC9JPRESET_DIM2) is unmatched and the state is set to manual. I would like to keep track of the changes and level when the switch is dimmed locally. What are your suggestions on doing this? Should I alter the code within X10_SwitchLink? Thanks, -Steven |

Hi Carlos, Long time since I have played with MH and/or IA5 (although it still controls my lights) But there is no list kept, all those icon things are dynamic, so just createing a group and placing a group-<groupname> icon should do it. Maybe depending on your OS, you should watch upper/lowercase filenames. Regards, Ron -----Original Message----- From: mis...@li... [mailto:mis...@li...] On Behalf Of Carlos M. gregg, I wasn't paying much attention either. After adding the debug command and not seeing anything in the log I decided to check my /opt/MisterHouse/code directory where user code resides. For some reason I had a voice_text.pm in that directory, removing that and the voice stuff works perfect... Sorry to waste your time on my user error, but thanks for the help. Oh, don't worry, it will take a while to get up to speed. I have been programming for over 15 years and know over 10 languages including Perl for about 7 years now. I think it took me a good month before I was comfortable. Once you get the cm11a configured in your mh.private.ini, you then create a file in your code directory such as house.mht: X10I, D10, front_porch_lights This creates an X10_Item (X10I) which supports on/off/dimming/etc. This is a normal wall-switch module. It has the address 'D10' and names the variable $front_porch_lights. I think your modules do not support dimming, so you would want to use: X10A, A1, some_outlet You can then create a .pl file in your code directory and do stuff like this: if (time_now("$Time_Sunset + 0:15")) { set $front_porch_lights ON; } -- Kirk Bauer <ki...@ka...> http://linux.kaybee.org | www.autorpm.org | www.logwatch.org |

Marty,
I wasn't paying close attention to the log text of your original post.
The log entry:
Can not speak for engine=theta: Phrase=Call from Murphy, E
appears to be output if (among other things) $speak_pgm in
Voice_Text.pm is undefined. $speak_pgm gets defined if $speak_engine
eq 'theta' (which it apparently is) and is set to the voice_text_theta
parm value. Your original post indicated that your default mh.ini has
voice_text_theta set to the location of your theta install. Just to be
safe, you might try setting it in your private mh.ini file.
If this doesn't work for you, try adding the following line:
print "speak_pgm: $speak_pgm" if $main::Debug{voice} and $speak_pgm;
after the existing line (approx line# 161) that reads:
elsif ($speak_engine =~/theta/i) {
And see if the output in your log refers to your theta path.

On Sun, 2003-12-28 at 23:41, I (Piet Delaney) wrote about expected problems with using the LynX-10 PLC with Leviton two bi-directional Scene Capable switches... It seems that "Uncle" Phil Kingery at Advanced Control Technologies, Inc (ACT) has developed a replacement for their old TW523 that can do extended commands. It's called the TI103-RS232 (or just TI103): http://www.hometoys.com/htinews/dec02/articles/kingery16/kingery16.htm It's a complete rs232 to power line interface. The spec say it can do extended commands 1: http://www.act-solutions.com/pdfs/PCCSpecs/ti103_spec.pdf I wonder why extended commands 3 (used by leviton) isn't mentioned. The instructions say it supports {X10, ACT, Leviton}. http://www.act-solutions.com/pdfs/PCCInst/ti103_instr.pdf It seems that ACT entered into an agreement with Smart Products, Inc and made them the exclusive exclusive sales agent: To place an order by email: to...@op... To place an order by fax: 201-594-0761 To call Smart Products: 201-594-0550 it seems to also be available for $99 at:\ HomeSeer Technologies OnLine Store: http://homeseer.american-data.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=HS http://homeseer.american-data.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=X10 http://homeseer.american-data.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=TI103&Category_Code= It's also available for $99.00 at: http://www.bassburglaralarms.com/category_109.htm There's a Bulliten Board at HomeSeer where they are discussing both the new Version 2 of the TI103 interface (Tue, 23 September 03) and the Marrick LynX10-PLC X10. I didn't see anything about Leviton two way scene swithes or Extended Commands. HomeSeer seems to be a product with features similar to MisterHouse: http://www.homeautomationnet.com/homeseer/hsmanual16.pdf but but a bit expensive ($135) and not OpenSource. Looks like the TI103 has been discussed for MisterHouse by: Steve Haehnichen back on/at 29 Jul 2003 18:04:34 -0700 20 Aug 2003 22:20:25 -0700 and Bruce Winter back on/at 22 Aug 2003 20:28:46 -0500 Steve did a very impressive Comparison of the: LynX-10 PLC CM11-A (TW523) ACT TI103-RS232 Looks like the ACT puts out lots of signal and has a low X-10 SUCK value, check out: http://www.trix.com/gallery/x10 He says it's available at Worthington for $93 (special order, no returns). It seems to be a polled device, the last discussion was to work offline to get it fully integrated. I wonder how it's going. For Leviton users this device and a driver may be the \ best approach. -piet > On Sun, 2003-12-07 at 03:37, Piet Delaney wrote: > > On Wed, 2003-12-03 at 07:20, Joe Blecher wrote: > > > Piet, > > > > > > The Lynx10PLC is capable of scenes/new extended commands as well as much > > > more. Thanks gregg, my theta (and theta.bin) is found in opt/theta/bin .. Same output that you got. I am using version 2.5 of theta, and the theta bin directory is in my path. I'm also running this on linux (fedora distro) I'm also using alsa since mythTV requires it . I've got 3 sound cards (snd-emu10k1, snd-intel8x0, and bttv) I've unloaded the modules for the intel and bttv and the theta still wouldn't work work. Version information: Theta version 2.5 ALSA version 1.0.0.rc2 MH 2.86 I turned off the default sound prefix and still no luck. Any other thoughts? There's also FreeBSD (and NetBSD and OpenBSD). /usr/ports/ (/usr/pkgsrc in netbsd) is a fantastic way to handle 3rd party (non-OS) packages. No playing "find the RPM" or "match the right library" or even have to trust someone else's build. You build from source, it finds and builds dependencies, packages it and installs it. Every file on the system has a man page (my chief irk with linux - what is the 'nd.conf' file? What shoudl be in it? etc). And I build from source. If I want (say) PINE (email reader), I type cd /usr/ports/mail/pine; make && make install I just offer it as an alternative (linux is not the only non-proprietary choice). |

Since upgrading to 2.85, and using the new mp3 player control, I have not
been able to get my playlists to work like they used to. I have several
.m3u files that are actually links to internet radio stations. I use these
all the time. I used to be able to click on mp3 jukebox and see those
playlists, all I had to do was click on them and they would play. Now,
whenever I do, it loads the playlist but does not play it, when I look at
winamp the only thing queued is 1.musicGrooveSalad I can't even select
play through the web interface or winamp and get them to play. However, I
can manually open those same m3u files in winamp and they play fine.
Here is another odd occurrence. When I browse to the music category and
try and "Set house mp3 player to playlist GrooveSalad" Winamp starts
playing it immediately. I have tried both wactrl and httpq and the issue
seems to be with the new web interface. Any ideas?

Hopefully, I can type some good stuff up once I get the hang of everything :) For now, some of the best advice I can give you is that the web interface for MH is very good. Most of the setup and controls can be found under Mr. House Home (on the interface main page) there you can edit the ini files in an easy manner and edit the items (X-10 modules) in your MHT file. The settings and even trigger event setups can be found under the setup section in Mr. House home....hope this helps some. -Daniel |

Hi *, I've purchased a CM11A and a few X10 split receptacles (http://smarthome.com/2040.html). I've read the basic documentation include the FAQs, but I'm not sure how or where to configure these devices so that MH can begin controlling them. Hi everyone, I'm just getting MH installed and have been working on getting some of the initial configuration done. I'm afraid that I've gotten a bit stuck with the TV listings. No matter what I've tried, the Web interface continues to show Bruce's Charter cable listings. In wonder if someone can offer a suggestion about how to get this working. Here's my very simple mh.private.ini file for reference: beethoven:/usr/local/misterhouse# cat mh.private.ini # Misterhouse configuration file code_dir=/usr/local/misterhouse/code data_dir=/usr/local/misterhouse/data sound_dir=/usr/local/misterhouse/sounds latitude=45.161 longitude=-93.235 date_format=mmddyyyy city=Blaine zip_code=55449 local_area_code=763,612,651,952 internet_speak_flag=none # TV Settings cable_provider = 68287 cable_provider_name=Comcast North Metro - Blaine cable_hours=all cable_name = Cable cable_label=Cable cable_channels_keep=2,4,5,10,11,25,99 Running get_tv_grid tonight gave me: beethoven:/usr/local/misterhouse/mh/bin# ./get_tv_grid -reget Files will be stored to ./../web/tv Tieing to /usr/local/misterhouse/data/tv_programs.dbm Deleting old data from 2 days ago: 12/26 ... I merged them together, and was testing them when I found the issue-- The generic_item default_setstate mods introduced in 2.78 (and reported as broken by Steve S back in Feb) aren't co-operating with the caddx code. I'll try to work thru the issues before getting distracted again... Are all of the caddx users on current 2.86 code? Steve-- did you work around the problem reported last Feb? Bill Sobel helpfully replied to an inquiry that I posted regarding the default_setstate code, but I apparently tabled the issue. Chris. |

I finally got around to updating from 2.77, and I'm seeing the following
errors on startup. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Thanks.

Hi Martin, The voice_text_theta param refers to the theta engine binary. By default, it is installed (on Linux distros) at /opt/theta/bin/theta. For example, on my system: [gliming@baltar lib]$ whereis theta theta: /opt/theta/bin/theta.bin /opt/theta/bin/theta On what platform are you running your theta engine? If it's something other than linux or if you've redirected the default install directory, then you should update your local voice_text_theta param accordingly. If the above doesn't address your problem and you're running Linux, then perhaps there's a conflict with your sound device. Are you using a default sound file to "prefix" your voices? If so, consider temporarily disabling them. FWIW: I used to have various "simultaneous sound issues" until moving to Alsa. Hi, I recently moved my MisterHouse to a new system and installed the Cepstral voices. Everything else seems to have switched over pretty well. However I can't seem to get the cepstral voices working with Misterhouse. I had festival working on the old system however it was on such a slow system (300/celron) that the voice would announce the call after the phone was picked up or went to voicemail (4th ring) I can get the theta application to work from the command line. With both the Emily and Frank voice. Every time I attempt to haveMisterhouse speak I get the 'Can not speak for engine=theta' error message... Looking at the voice_text.pm it looks like this is the message if Misterhouse can't get use of the card because of voice_cmd using it . my voice_cmd INI files are blank.. Is there something I am missing? Well, when I moved into my house I attached an electrical outlet to my breaker box. That came in real handy with Christmas lights -- I have no idea how the previous owners put them up. The only other outlet in the front of the house is right by the front door. So, now I want to put a few outlets under the eve of my roof in the front of the house. At first I was just going to install them like normal -- run some romex off of an under-utilized circuit and install several new outlets in metal boxes. But then I started thinking -- it already took four X10 modules to control the lights this year. So, I would ideally like to be able to turn all of these new outlets on and off through one X10 module. So, are there any ideas on how I should accomplish this? I'm doing the wiring, so I can do anything I would like to. One thought I had was to connect all of the outlets together and then hook on a three-pronged plug and plug it into a 15A appliance module. But I'm not sure if that is up to code and it might be a bit strange if we sell the place. Perhaps a better idea is to use a Leviton 15A inline relay module. It looks like it can fit inside of a round box. I could install such a box in the attic just for this module and then run the wire out to the outlets. When I ever move out I can just open up the box and remove the inline module if I so desire. My only concern with that last (seemingly ideal) solution is -- can the inline relay module handle the temperatures in a Phoenix attic in the summer (I would guess up to 140F)? -- Kirk Bauer <ki...@ka...> http://linux.kaybee.org | www.autorpm.org | www.logwatch.org |
