Not to haunt you, but did you have the time to look at this in the last
few months?
Thanks,

thanks. I have some code that wouldn't let it start up but once I renamed it to *.pl.somethingelse else, it started up. It looks great on phone. I was experiencing hangs where the MH process would stay running, but no events fire, the web interface is dead and the log file is not updated. I reinstalled MH on a new low-powered computer, copied my code over and all was well. Until now. I'm seeing the exact same symptoms, and I'm not sure how to track it down:

Hey Steve,
not sure what is going wrong. Can you tell us what MisterHouse version you’re running?
Best regards,

Hey Tom, if you do ‘git status’ you’ll probably get ‘On branch stable’. Just do ‘git checkout master’ to get the master branch on your computer. So far, I’m really impressed with how it’s shaping up, and like the idea of a responsive design interface, that also updates in real-time. I'm having trouble figuring out what's happening here. I was
experiencing hangs where the MH process would stay running, but no
events fire, the web interface is dead and the log file is not updated.
I reinstalled MH on a new low-powered computer, copied my code over and
all was well. Until now. I'm seeing the exact same symptoms, and I'm not
sure how to track it down:

I think it’s neat to have a page with all the objects, and watch then change status on an iPhone while events happen in the house. I’ve attached a few screenshots below to give a sense of what the UI looks like. >>> >>> That said, Javascript is new to me, and there are a few problems that I’m trying to figure out that I haven’t had much success with yet. If anyone is interested in lending a hand, just let me know. I’ve branched off Kevin’s IA7 and am updating my github branch, github.com/hplato/misterhouse . >> >> I’m no javascript expert, so I’m afraid I am unable to help with the coding. >> >> But let me say: I just merged your branch into my clone and I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this should become the default web interface for MisterHouse release 3.2! Wow, this code really brings the web interface from the 90’s to 2015! Please create a pull request so that I can merge this into master for other users to test this out. >> >> To other people who want to test with it in the mean time: assuming you are running some version of hollie/misterhouse.git (master). I'd hate to just chuck it, when I'm sure that some folks could use it. I have no idea what it's worth, but it's in the original box and has the USB Infinity QNX OS flashed onto it. If anyone is interested, shoot me an offer. I live outside Boston, so you can pick it up if you're local. Thanks,Mike |

Add that item to the All_Lights group, and it should show up under ‘Browse All Lights'. For example, for an insteon light:
INSTEON_SWITCHLINCRELAY, 21.15.6E, garage_light, All_Lights|Room_Garage|Garage #Micro Rev1.0 3913 Model 2443-
The gear button on the substate menu only filters out less common states. If you added a set_states of “11%”, it shouldn’t display until you press the gear.

Progress!
I added CODE, $D_Chandelier->set_states(“off”,”20%”,”40%”,"60%”,”80%”,”on”); to items.mht and now the button works!
this should now someway be added to UPB_Device.pm. The buttons show only under 'Browse Groups’ and not under 'Browse All Lights’ and the gear still lacks any information - so still a little more to do!
Thanks for helping me!

On this particular item, can you try
$D_Chandelier -> set_states(“off”,"on”);
And see what happens. Items need to have state definitions to be controlled via the web interface (ia5 worked this way). I need to set states on generic_items so I can control them. I don’t know if this will mess up any UPB_Device logic, however it’s worth a try to see if this might add web control.

Hey Howard,
I’ve added 20, 40, 60 and 80%. Works like a charm, thanks for the input!
Best regards,
Lieven.

There are also ‘brighten’ and ‘dim’ states for some items. For the most part a direct access % level seems to work well for me.

Hey Mike, how do you authenticate to MisterHouse? Please see: https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/issues/490#issuecomment-84689534 If your browser is not authenticated this could cause problems. Hello all, I’ve just added support for Philips Lux lights to the Philips Hue module in MisterHouse (https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/pull/492). With the development of the new IA7 web interface, I’d like to add proper dimming support to the Philips Hue code. Right now dimming is possible by calling $device->bri(<level>) in the user code, but this does not work from the web interface of course. As far as I understand for some devices (Insteon, X10) it is possible to dim the devices through the web interface. I have no such hardware to test with. Is there somebody who can explain me how to tell MisterHouse/the web interface that a device can be dimmed? What function do I need to add or what state do I need to define? How about the granularity of the dim levels (per 1% or per 10%)? I’ve taken a look at the Insteon code for lights, but the principle that is used there is not completely clear to me. Best regards, Lieven. |

At first glance, It looks like the UPB_Device doesn’t provide 'states' information through json_server.
> "states" : [
> ""
> ],
Looking at json_server.pl, the states are provided via this call:
if ( $f eq 'states' or $f eq 'state_log' ) {
my @a = $object->$method;
$value = \@a;
}
and $method is set to ‘states’
It looks like only Insteon/BaseInseton.pm has a ‘states’ method. Strangely enough, I have generic items that seem to work. I’ll have to look into this further. Unfortunately, I don’t have any UPB_Devices to test.

Note that once I click a web button the state disappears from the ip/json/object listing!
Any other ideas of where to go next?

Hmmm. I wonder if json_server.pl actually provides the state information. Group, My system reads the current status of lighting and properly displays it. However clicking a button only provides the following and activating the what looks like a slider will only turn off the light … but then the browse summary looses the status and can not be turned on or brighten/dim. I can still turn lights on/off from Floor plan view - but no way to change the level. Ideas on what to look for? This was not working correctly in previous web versions either. Mike |

Hey Mike, the ‘xxx’ was to show that you needed to replace the string with the correct ‘print_log’ or ‘print_speaklog’. You did that, so nothing to worry about. Thanks for testing this further, I have pushed a fix to the hollie/misterhouse.git master branch based on your input (fixes on lines 289, 308 and 562). See: https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/pull/491 Kind regards, Lieven. > Op 21-mrt.-2015, om 16:17 heeft Michael W Jopling MD <mjo...@co...> het volgende geschreven: > > Lieven, > > You were correct: > 289: push($json_data{'print_log'}, @log); > 308: push($json_data{'print_speaklog'}, @log); > > was changed on your recommendation to: > 289: push(@{$json_data{'print_log’}}, @log); > 308: push(@{$json_data{'print_speaklog’}}, @log); > > not sure why your code had the <xxx> in the print_log in line 289 - please advise. > > a restart yielded the following errors: >> Type of arg 1 to push must be array (not private variable) at ../lib/json_server.pl line 562, near "$obj_name)" >> Compilation failed in require at mh line 741. >> at mh line 31 >> main::__ANON__('Type of arg 1 to push must be array (not private variable) at...') called at mh line 741 >> main::setup called at mh line 6851 >> mh rc=255 >> mh failed on startup ... will not restart > > With my new found skill I was taught above I inspected: > 562: push ($value, $obj_name); > > and changed it to: > 562: push(@{$value}, $obj_name); > > Now mh starts! > > … on to the next ‘issue’… many thanks - very appreciated! > > -Mike J > > > > > > >> On Mar 21, 2015, at 4:02 AM, Lieven Hollevoet <li...@li...> wrote: >> >> Hey Michael, >> >> I think the problem is that on line 289 and 308 that look like: >> >> push($json_data{‘print_<xxx>log'}, @log); >> >> should look like: >> >> push(@{$json_data{‘print_<xxx>log’}}, @log); >> >> I think the problem is the array is not dereferenced. >> >> Could you please try changing both lines to see if this fixes the issue? >> >> I cannot reproduce the error you get on my system, so I cannot test it out myself. >> >> Kind regards, >> Lieven. >> >> >> >>> Op 21-mrt.-2015, om 05:02 heeft Michael W Jopling MD <mjo...@co...> het volgende geschreven: >>> >>> Can anyone please assist me in how to troubleshoot this error?
