Wayne, when you say misterhouse supported thermostats is there a list
somewhere?
I am not currently tracking the phones but that is a great idea. I am
however using Network_Item to track the state of my media PC which effects
the lighting in that room the theory should be similar.
####################
# noloop=start
####################
use Network_Item;
$mediaPC = new Network_Item('domainOrIPofMonitoredDevice', 10);
####################
# noloop=stop
####################
print_log "[UserCode::networkItem.pl] MediaPC is $state" if $state =
state_changed $mediaPC;

Hello Wayne, I am interested about the method you use to look for the phones on the network, can you guide me in a direction? I am sure I can find a use for it.... My SCHEDULE_Temp/SCHEDULE code works with any thermostat in MH that allows setting the heat and cool set points (I assume most MH supported thermostats). You can make as many schedules (schedule meaning a heat/cool set point and a time to set them) as you want and set them with the schedule GUI Howard wrote in the MH web UI, you can also set the temperatures for the schedule in the UI so tweaks are convenient. I built in tracking for occupancy, so it can automatically over ride the temps set for say "day home" with the "away" temperature settings when you leave. Of course you need a method for tracking occupancy (I just look for our cell phones to be on the network). I also have a built in method for tracking the outdoor temperature with the ability to have "winter" thermostat temperature settings that can be set if the outdoor temperature goes below the temperature you define. You can use the forecasted temperature or you can use the current temperature (track option) which is what I do. The current temperature (track option) changes to to the "winter" settings at any point at night when the outdoor temps get below your setting, the forecast option just updates the setting on the schedule change based on the forecast for the night. I have the INSTEON 2441TH Thermostat which has worked pretty well and the Schedule_Temp code has only been tested with it (that I know of) but if there are issues with another thermostat it should be no issue to resolve them as long as the thermostat supports being set from MH. I have been using the Scheduling code for a long time now and its been rock solid. _Wayne On Wed, Sep 20, 2017 at 2:34 PM, Spencer Ryan <sry...@gm...> wrote: > Buy a Nest and use the API? I'm thinking about replacing my current thermostat, a Honeywell CT3400/CT3455 ( http://www.gogeisel.com/geiselonline/support/Honeywell/CT3400_CT3455.pdf ), with one that can interface with MisterHouse. I saw some threads dating back to November 2014 regarding this. I'm hoping there is more up-to-date information available. I'm running hot air via gas with a single zone. I'm thinking about the ability to have MH read the house's current conditions (i.e., temperature, humidity, dew point, etc.), being able to make decisions based on those conditions (along with whatever else MH "knows"), and programming those decisions into the thermostat. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Sent from: http://misterhouse.10964.n7.nabble.com/Misterhouse-User-f3.html |

I’m thinking about renaming the upcoming 4.3 release to 5.0. Wayne has made some fantastic improvements in the http server — upgrading it to HTTP1.1, enabling persistent connections, and significantly reducing CPU usage. I thought 5.0 might be a more appropriate version due to the fundamental changes to MH when responding to web requests. I haven’t pushed any of the changes to master yet, since it’s still experimental, and the http server changes need to be still tested with older code. I’m wondering if we might want to create a ‘beta’ branch on hollie, or just use my hplato/ia7 branch for those that want to test and give some feedback. There are a few UI changes with 5.0; there is dynamic weather information on the header bar that is also clickable (I use weather_metar, so be good to get feedback from other weather provider users), the load averages and tagline are updated every minute, the load average is green or red depending on the load, and Page Visits has been replaced with Site views <# since MH was restarted>/<# since MH was upgraded to 5> The MH mode in the options menu is also remembered between browsing sessions by using cookies. Thoughts, comments, suggestions? |

So just to follow-up on this, I think I found my problem. I had an old usercode module that used Proc::SImple. When I disabled this module, I’ve run for a few days without zombies. Really weird that it appeared to cause forks in http_server not to be cleaned up. Anyways, given that I developed that code about 10 years ago, I have better ideas on how to achieve the same result without using that library. > On Aug 30, 2017, at 8:46 PM, Eloy Paris <pe...@ch...> wrote: > > No zombies here either (running on Ubuntu 16.04). > > Perhaps MH (or some user code) is not closing properly some external > program that it is calling? I used to have 25% utilization with a few IA7 connections, now the utilization has dropped in half! >>> >>> I’ve updated the changelog to reflect all the pull requests so far: https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/wiki/Changelog <https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/wiki/Changelog> >>> >>> One issue that I’ve had for the past few years is ‘zombie’ processes accumulating. After a few months I might have 200 - 300 zombie processes with MH being the parent. A restart cleaned them up, but I’d like to get the the root cause and fix that in 4.3. If anyone else has this issue, please reply on the list. You can see zombies by either using top or ps -ef |grep defunct. I think this might be just a linux problem, and the focus has been on linux — however if windows users have lots of perl processes in task manager, that would be good to know. >>> >>> It would also be great to have some brave users update to the latest master and provide some feedback. If we can get some feedback and track down those crazy zombies, I’d like to get a 4.3 stable out next month,. |
