Just installed Misterhouse on my XP Pro machine It talks fine... but I get the following error message Error, X10 interface not found: interface=3D, data=3DXA1 etc for a few lines Does this mean I am not pointing to my CM11 somewhere in the tables?? I have set CM11_port=3DCOM1 in the mh.ini file - Is there another spot? = should the COM1 port speed etc be set? I cannot affect any of the X10 light controllers that work under = ActiveHome ok Thanks Dan |

Alan, Well to change the output direction you should only have to swap pins 5 = and 6 so that the output stage operates as an inverter. However from = your description it is not operating as I expected ( I expected the = output to go high when the light was shone on the sensor) so I may be = wrong on this. Perhaps someone else can explain it to me. Could the IC = be damaged? The other way of changing it is to swap over the sensor and the 10k = resistor. Also it is not really meant to drive a LED, so it might be an idea to = increase the LED resistor to 1k which will make your output low lower. Baz Alan Womack wrote, >I need to change my output from being high, dropped low, to being low = brought >high so that the DS1994 iButton will register the over 5v condition as = a pulse. >What changes do I need to make to the circuit for this? Listmates Just wanted to alert you to another device, the ibutton switch DS2406. It is a remote controlled switch that is supported by misterhouse. Use the set_switch command in iButton:Devices. With this you can put switches anywhere on your iButton network. Actual hardware implementation is simple, requiring the switch, an opto isolator and a relay (with perhaps a driver transistor). I have them operating a blower for my wood stove and am adding temperature control too, since the thermometers are already in place on the 1-wire network. Don Wilde. |

I have an early Delorme unit (I think it was a tripmate). The output is = not non-standard; it is a "binary" rather than ASCII format. You can = google and find an adapter, for about $50 I think, which will convert = that into the ASCII NEMA format. But, I think you made the right choice = in shelling out for the Garmin. ok, "I" have the circuit working thanks to Butch's feedback on how to set the = potentiometer. I think if I hooked it up to the PP port it might work = actually. Now I need to make a tweak with some assistance for the ibutton. My output on = pin 7, with the potetiometer tweaked just so is 2.27 volts. When I hit the = photo cell the output drops to under 1 volt. If I tweak the pot to bring pin 7 high to 6.3 volts, I then can shine the = pointer to drop to just over 5 volts. I supposed if I drop my power supply = voltage down some more, I could get a below 5 volt supply when the pointer is = on there. I need to change my output from being high, dropped low, to being low brought = high so that the DS1994 iButton will register the over 5v condition as a pulse. What changes do I need to make to the circuit for this? The iButton needs to = see a low signal inorder for the bus to be read by the DS9097U. Thanks Alan |

Hello,
I'm running version 2.73 on Windows NT 4.0 currently. After 11:00 PM, =
once the main downstairs motion timer expires (assumes we've all gone to =
bed, no longer on main floor) MH goes to mute mode, and drops the volume =
to 50%. After 6:00 AM, once motion is first detected on the main floor, =
it comes out of mute mode, and raises to 60% volume. After 8:30 AM, =
volume is raised to 100%.
The problem I'm having, is the volume is never lower than full =
volume. If I edit the mh.private.ini parm, the volume level changes. =
Running the "test volume at 60" voice command works perfectly.
Here's a sample few lines from my auto_mute.pl file:
if (time_now '8 pm') {
$config_parms{sound_volume} =3D 80;
$Save{sleeping_kids} =3D 1;
}
Saving a new volume level seems to be ignored.
Does anyone else have the same experience?
Steve

Alan, You are right in needing +ve on pin 8, and 0v on pin 4. Also you do need = a ground to tthe computer to complete the circuit as you suggested. The NTE 943 is a comparator, and can run from 5v to 30v see data sheet = http://www.nteinc.com/specs/900to999/NTE943.html Your circuit is designed to give pulses when the light level changes; it = is not intended to show two states, light and dark. Under steady light conditions pin 2 is at half voltage so adjust the = potentiometer to make pin 3 just below half voltage. Pin 1 will be low = because pin 2 ( inverting input) is higher than 3, but pin 7 follows pin = 5 ( non inverting input to second stage), so pin 7 is low and LED is on. ( the reason you 'are always high' is probably because you have set the = potentiometer to make pin 3 higher than half voltage) Shine a light on the cell and it reduces resistance so pin 2 gets pulled = low, 3 goes high, 7 goes high and the LED is off, but only while the = 22uf capacitor is charging. So you only get the LED off for a while. If you want it to stay showing the light level, instead of a pulse, just = remove the 10k resistor and the 22uf capacitor. You didn't say which light cell you use but if you can get an ORP12, = it's been around for 30 years and still the best device around. (Also because this circuit is designed to only give high or low output, = not progressive, don't bother to try feeding it into an analogue = input.) Baz |

Alan, Your description leads me to suspect that you havent got power and ground to the chip. Those connections are not shown in typical schematics, only the signal lines. There should be connections to two ther chip pins, one power and one ground. Havent got a chip manual handy, so I cant tell you which pins, but often opposite corners. Don ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Womack" <arw...@wo...> To: "Majordomo leben.com" <mis...@li...> Sent: Thursday, November 28, 2002 1:39 AM Subject: [misterhouse-users] OT: power meter watch circuit I have built the circuit based on the schematic attached. I've double checked my work twice, but am unable to make it function. Where do I start for troubleshooting? I have power 7.69v. The two leads from the Cadmium sulfide cell are connected to a pair of header pins. One connected directly to ground, one goes to a "junction" where a 100uf cap goes from + on the line side to ground (7.61 v shows). A 10K ohm resistor goes from the line to 5V with the gold stripe to the line. I show 7.84v on the brown end and 7.84 on the gold end. Then comes a 22uf cap I have 3.1v here. Then I hit a pair of 100K resistors, one going to 5V (3.6v) the other to ground (4.2v) via a cross board ground. Then I go to pin 2 of the opamp (4.2v) Pin 1 from the opamp combines at solder point, a 1K (brown black red) resistor going to power (7.4v) Pint 1 at the solder point also has a 1M resistor connecting from jumpers going from Pin1(7.55v) to pin3(7.55v), jumpers from pin 3 to pin 6, and the middle point on a 100K potentiometer (7.55v) The poteniometer lines have 470k resistors, one to ground (.04v) and 1 to 5V (7.56v) pin1 also has a jumper to pin 5 (7.58v) Pin 7 I get (5.81v) If I apply a ground path for pin 7 I get the led to come on which comes from pin 7 and goes to 5V. But playing with the Cadmium cell I get no difference in pin 7's behavor. I know what the circuit is supposed to do, but not HOW it does it technically. I think I have built it correctly, but it is not doing it's job. Alan |

Ron, Forget it, I manage to extract all the icons from your button, and convert them in PNG with transparency. By this week-end, I should release 2 perl script. The first one will allow us to generate new button by keeping the same look and fell as yours. The only difference are the font. For now I'm using the internal GD font. The next release will probably use ttf font. I have to test this before. BTW, what font are you using. The second script is basically the same, but allow you to output directly, in misterhouse, button on-the-fly.
