No need to use curl for Pushover, there's a mh Pushover module. Take a look

If you aren't seeing any debug messages then it's probably an issue with
multicast on the machine or permissions with port 80 which need elevated
access. Make sure you see it listening on port 80 with net stat.

If ssdp was working you would be seeing messages from all kinds of things
on your network on the same subnet in addition to Alexa
