Using 4.9.9.2 on several computers, I discovered accidentaly a shortcut (french azerty keyboards): <Ctrl><Window><;> Ctrl can be left or right or both Window (the key with a desintegrating Window) can be left, right or both When you press these keys at the same time, the current line is commented: two shashes added at the beginning of the current line, without moving the caret. I did not find that shortcut in the help menu of the editor. This shortcut is not really usefull (maybe a bug), but is there any other undocumented shortcuts? |

Easiest is to get the source of the libraries, and built yourself. Then you can use whatever compiler you like. For example, I always build my own wxWidgets libraries complete with tiff, jpeg, ... support. /Per W On Fri, 25 Mar 2005, kalb wrote: > I'm working on a project of a slide show viewer system. I'm working on a project of a slide show viewer system. It consists on two applications, the slide show viewer, and the slide show organizer. The first one is based on SDL 1.2.6 and SGE 030809 libraries found on devpaks.org. I had to choose this version of libraries because the available SDL_image and SDL_mixer needs this version of SDL. To be able to compile against these libraries I needed to downgrade the GCC compiler from 3.4.2 to 3.3.1 (don't ask me why, but SDL seems to be compatible only with 3.3.1). The second one is based on wxWidgets. I tried several versions of them, the only one that seems to be consistent with GCC 3.3.1 is the 2.4.2, but they apparently seems to depend on an older jpeg library that the one needed by the SDL (6.3-b). The result is that if I set up the correct devpacks set for SDL compiling, it's not good for compiling wxWindows and vice-versa. The question is: is there a way to let different versions of the same library to live in the same compiling environment? Or is there a way to let several separate compiling environments live on the same Dev-Cpp installation? (btw I tried to install libjpeg 6.3-b and rename lib/libjpeg.a to lib/libjpeg63-b.a before installing Imagelib needed by wxWindows, but following this line I should rename also the conflicting headers, loosing portability). A great thank to devpackers for their great work, just a pray: could you write in the package notes the exact version of the stuff (libraries, compiler ecc.) needed for your package? Thanks. Often you can look up information about such packages from the Debian Linux package database at http://packages.debian.org/. Even though it's for a specific Linux distribution, you can usually search to find information about the package. Also, you could google "libgl libglut" or other such strings... -----Original Message----- From: dev...@li... A #define that the resource compiler defines when compiling *.rc -> *.res. It allows conditional compilation of the resource file, i.e. a header file may emit some symbols when included by the C/C++ compiler and other symbols when included by the resource compiler. /Per W On Wed, 23 Mar 2005, Thisse Pascal wrote: > Hello, > > what is the directive RC_INVOKED ??? |

Hi Verne, The GCC Manual is actually an on-line page. It's available at http://www.gnu.org/software/gcc/onlinedocs/ Well worth reading, as there's lots of switches that Dev-Cpp doesn't use by default. Al "Verne H. Hi Rohit, I'd like a link to that manual! I've got a 10-23-2004 download of the GCC manual in HTML format and it doesn't address complex data structures at all. My solution has always been to use a structure, however grepping into the Dev-Cpp includes for complex returns <complex> as the header file. It appears to contain all of the functions such as pow, tanh, etc. It's in the sub-folder include/c++/3.3.1 (BTW: I really hate IE's propensity to interpret \ as an escape character start in my e-mails!) If you still want to code your own complex routines, see http://mathworld.wolfram.com/ComplexNumber.html formulas 12 through 14. Then follow the links at the bottom of that page to other subjects related to complex computations. Another important resource is Chemical Research Corporation's Standard Mathematical Tables and Formulae ($24.03 at Amazon, used, which is a hell of a buy!) rohit bhute <rv...@gm...> wrote: I read up the complex data type in the gcc manual. I would appreciate being pointed out to a resource on complex data types. The gcc manual fell short. -- Rohit V. I read up the complex data type in the gcc manual. I need a quick crash course on complex data type - 1. How to declare them 2. assign values using the format z=(x,y) where x and y may be any expressions. Or if there are any other ways to assign values to complex data types, please let me know. 3. Operations on them - sum, product, conjugation, polar<->rectangular conversion and so on. I would appreciate being pointed out to a resource on complex data types. The gcc manual fell short. -- Rohit V. Bhute http://rvbhute.freelinuxhost.com/ Using Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird |

Wonderbar! That's the info I was looking for and here's a good example for
any others that may be reading these mails. It's one of Ivor's and a good
one. For me! Down to reading more about the way it really is to be done
and to try to remember it. You young guys are lucky to be able to take it
in so much faster.

use "cin.getline(85,'\n')" from <iostream>, as you say, this can be

Nope, Alfred, it doesn't do the job as about all I get out of same is =
one letter or word at the most. Here's the code to a complete little =
program and though I see what I type it only prints out the first word. =
We're missing something here somewhere. Oh well more reading is due I =
guess. Thanks for this.
Verne

#include <cstdlib>
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
string story;
cin >> story;
cout << story<< "\n";
system("PAUSE");
return EXIT_SUCCESS;
}
*************************************
When it runs type 'Plumbing is my business.' and it will only print =
out Plumbing.
There's different methods. If you're using cout then that implies =
C++. Use the string class instead of the char keyword. The string =
class with cin would already separate the input at the newline =
character.
Then it would be (provided sentences where input with the Enter key):
string line;
cin >> line;
cout << line;
For char's it's a little harder as you have to capture the tokens. =
Look up String Manipulation on the Microsoft Run-Time Library Reference =
Site. strtok is an example. It also depends on whether you are =
terminating sentences on newlines, ". ", or whatever your token is. As =
an example, "This is a test. This is another." would have a token ". " =
for the first sentence, and a terminating token of ".\n" You'd have to =
separate the two, and would have to handle the time when the user =
forgets the period!
There's also formatted input, which I haven't used in so long that =
I've forgotten how to use it! See Standard C I/O, and C++ I/O from the =
C/C++ Reference site. Check out my links page section on Programming at =
http://www.geocities.com/alreaud/Links_Page.htm. Just use the left =
frame, click on Computers and Internet, then click on Programming.
Hope this helps!=20

Actually, I might have a link for you on this subject. I just got into GDB
the other day to debug some pointer code that went something like this:
void allocateTable(std::string* table)
{
table = new string[50];
// Do Stuff...
return;
}
But then later in the code, when I used this stuff, it crashed if I
referenced the array. Long story short, it should have been coded this way:
void allocateTable(std::string*& table)
{
table = new string[50];
// Do Stuff...
return;
}
I forgot to pass the pointer by reference so the change never went back into
the calling function's pointer! Anyhow, when I had to figure this out with
GDB, I found some docs that also covered the issue of working with threads.
I sorted them in relevance order.

Exactly what difference is there between struct and class except for their
initial difference in protection?
A struct supports constructors, multiple inherritance, virtual methods,
operator overloading, ... etc just as a class. If you have found a
difference somewhere, please point me at that difference
(compiler and/or standard paragraph).
You can take any C++ application and replace
class xx : yy {
...
};
with:
struct xx : yy {
private:
...
};
directly, for identical functionality.
The only difference/limitation I can think about right now is that
template declarations only accept the "class" or "typename" keyword.

Whoops, sent my reply to Matthew only. My mistake.
The semi-colon is there because you're able to create instances of
classes right after declaring them, and before the semi-colon. That
sounds pretty logical to me.

I haven't tried it yet with Insight. I did do an application back about a year ago that was a plug-in for GIMP (GIMP and plug-in where seperate threads). It required a do-nothing loop with a variable that you could clear to exit the loop with once you attached it to GDB. It was actually a pain in the butt, but GDB worked well once I figured out how to use it correctly. This was the command line version of GDB instead of Insight, and was Dev-C++ 4.9.9.0 if I recall correctly.
The GDB entry is as follows:
#ifdef DEBUG
do {
shapefs.d_c();
} while (d_l == TRUE); // Make this variable FALSE to continue with program flow.
#endif
void GIMP_SFS::d_c (void)
{ /* If DEBUG is defined, will loop in this function forever until attached by
the debugger and the value d_l set to FALSE.
*/
d_v = ~d_v; // Just something to do.
}
