Hi, look in the directory where your project file is saved. If it isn't there look at "Project Options->Build Options->Directories->Executable output directory", there you can set an output path for the .exe files. You could seed rand() with system time: #include <stdio.h> #include <time.h> time_t ltime; unsigned int seconds = time(<ime); srand(seconds); int num = rand(); int main() { printf("Random number is %d", num); return(0); } It would still be a "pseudo random number", but it ought to be different most every time. Search Google for random number generation solutions of far greater complexity. Matt http://www.cminusgames.com --------------------------------- How low will we go? Hello all, I have this problem with member access of a C++ class. Let A and B be two classes. I want A to have access to only few specific private members of B. I have been implementing it using an inner class of class B as below. class A { ... }; class B { public: class Bin { friend class A; private: int get_private_int_a_of_B(const B &b) { return b.a; } } private: int a; ... other private members; }; The class Bin need not have to be an inner class - it can be an external friend of class B. However, making it an inner class makes the code neater, and makes B a bit more encapsulated I feel. So, my question is: Is there a better/neater way of providing access to specific private members of a class to another particular class? Thanks in advance, Siva Chandra __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi,all thx to Ahmed Han, who solved the problem. it's just a defect in the makefile, if you tick the option called 'fast but imperfect' in 'Tools->complier option', you shall have the same problem with me. to avoid it, just to cancel the option, and then it'll really get slower than before (but better ---- said Ahmed) I think the meaning of the option is 'whether to gernerate a 'simple-and-fast' makefile or a 'perfect-but-fast' one. btw, I'm wondering that if this option is necessary: if there're not many files in the project, there's almost no differences between the two types, but if there're many files, it's much possibly to just modify some header files between two compling, I think maybe most people would prefer accuracy to speed. ps:Ahmed also offered another solution : to rebuild the whole project each time, but I prefer to cancel the option. wl 2006.09.24 |

hello everybody, maybe I've found a bug in Dev-Cpp 4.9.9.2 I've created a new C++ project, and added a header file in the project, then include the header file in the main cpp file. e.g: //test.h .... //main.cpp #include "test.h" int main(){return 0;} the problem is: once main.cpp has been complied and remain unmodified. The complier won't re-complied it even if I modify the file "test.h" ---- it SHOULD compile it! maybe it's a bug or just a wrong setting in my computer, so guys, please do the same thing and see if it'll happen in your computers. Hi all, I am now learning about the WIN32 API functions, and I tryied to create an application that listed the windows that are child to the desktop. I got the code to work listing all the windows, and then i started to designed a interface for my program. Well, to make a long story short , I tryied to display a Image in my parent window, by creating a child window ( with ws_child ) to my main one , and LoadImage into it. However my image never gets displayed. Ps: I checked the handles and they seem correct. Do keep in mind that i'm new to windows API, if the code is too buggy. I have the same problem as Eren Ezg=FC, to program a device I have to gener= ate pulses of a few milliseconds duration on some pins of the parallel or the serial ports. The sleep() function has a delay in seconds as an argument. I read that for game programming the performance or the multimedia timers are used, but I could never find a working example. I don't know what problem yuor are trying to solve, so I don't know how important the delay time is. However, there are no normal delay available that will allow you to generate a 2.5ms delay. In most operating systems, the delay functions only take a parameter sepcifying the shortest allowed delay. They never guarantee that the appliaction will be waked up immediately at the end of the delay. If that is a necessity, you either have to use a RTOS, or you have to write a hardware driver that will interface directly with the hardware. Even if you use one of the existing sleep functions, and specify a 3 ms delay, you might get a delay of one or more time slizes - normally 16 or 32 ms. It is possible to measure time very exactly using the performane timers available. These can - together with a busy loop - be used to implement short sleeps of reasonably high precision. However, it can not be guaranteed that the application isn't preempted, even if it runs at a very high priority. There are also a couple of multimedia functions available that works with reasonably high-resolution timing. /Per W On Fri, 22 Sep 2006, [UTF-8] Eren Ezg=C3=BC wrote: > i need to make time delays of 0.5 ms precision. for example i need to del= ay > 2.5 ms. i can delay 1 ms precision with sleep and clock functions but tha= ts > not enough for me. if there's a way of dividing a ms to two parts that wo= uld > be fine. > > how can i do this? > > -- > www.cprogramlama.net > |

Let me be frank with you too! If you do yuor assignments, and spend sometime with your books, your knowledge of the c++ language would be quite a lot more extensive. You wouldn't have been givet that deadline, untless your instructor knew that there was enough time to do the assignment - including reading a number of chapters in the course litterature and googling for extra information. The mailing list is for people who are having problems with the tools, not people who have problems with school assignments. /Per W On Thu, 21 Sep 2006, ni la wrote: > Hai There, > Im jothy here !! > To be frank im saying that im not very good in c++. > I have attach one assigment that given to me. > If any one have any code which is similar to my assigment or anyother code that can be modify according to my assigment, please mail me that code. > I really need your help. Hi to all, in a win application, developed under Dev-Cpp environment, I'm using wxGenericDirCtrl to browse the directories, but it shows only the local disks. Anyone can suggest me a way (if exists) to show also the network resources or tell me if there's some object that allows such a feature? I googled about it but didn't found anything useful, and I don't want to use a file dialog... Hi, I am a new user changing from VisualC++ to Dev-C++. I have a problem with fstreams: 1) if I open an fstream with in mode, close it (without doing anything, just for testing) then I can re-open it, BUT 2) if I open an fstream with in mode, read all the file and close it THEN I cannot re-opening any more. May anyone help me? Thanks, --Alfonso |

I don't normally reply to things on this list as I'm not that experienced, but your post is really great! Is there a chance you could provide any more information.... for example what exactly are the problems you are having with installing and compilation? Rory.
