Colin, Could you send me a text representation of the code you are using that is having the problem with GetStdHandle? I don't have Delphi, so trying to work with the full src set is rather cumbersome. I am not a Delphi programmer, but I have some fair experience with working around weirdnesses in different versions of Win32, and I *might* be able to suggest something. Thanks, Mac At 11:14 PM 5/31/2002 +0200, Colin Laplace wrote: >Hello, > >Yes i am aware of this bug, it seems to only happen on Windows 98 SE (which i >would strongly recommend to do not use it). >I haven't found a solution so far, since it is a bug in 98SE. > >To Win98 SE users : could you please try to get service packs (updates) for >your system, and try if it works then ? > >Greetings, >Colin > - _____________________________ /"\ Mac Reiter \ / ASCII Ribbon Campaign Nomadics, Inc. Hello, Yes i am aware of this bug, it seems to only happen on Windows 98 SE (which i would strongly recommend to do not use it). I haven't found a solution so far, since it is a bug in 98SE. To Win98 SE users : could you please try to get service packs (updates) for your system, and try if it works then ? I did not mean to suggest that my debugging woes were over. Installation of Insight was purely a research effort. I would still like the integrated debugging to work. To summarize my problem: - Beta 3 (4.9.3.0) installed clean. - "Hello World" console project - Builds properly. - Executes properly. - Attempting to debug generates "Error in GetStdHandle" Message Box. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mac - _____________________________ /"\ Mac Reiter \ / ASCII Ribbon Campaign Nomadics, Inc. For example in other compilers as djgpp this help can be obtained pressing Ctrl-F1 keys, so, immediately appears the help windows with reference to the keyword or reserved word in which the cursor is positioned. Hi Napoleon, Sorry I'm late on this. In Dev-C you have to have rc files with a diferent name than any other files in the project. You should also include the local directory to the Include directory list. Compare compiler options and linker options from my sample file belowe, with your own. Also get your hands on the tutorial ( http://www.braem17.yucom.be/download/wxWindows/wxTutorial.pdf ) written by Franky Bream. It's not complete but instructive samples to get you going. curses is a library that will do what you want. curses is avail under *nix, DOS. May be there is a GCCW32 port. Have a look to google. The source code will be portable. Adib. Hi, I've attached something I wrote a while back. It's a simple demo of how to manipulate the console parameters using the windows api. It's important to note that this is non-portable code, it won't work in dos, linux, etc... only Windows. I am not aware of any way of writing a gotoxy function that is portable, because the underlying way of writing to the screen buffers in an OS will vary. You can look up the various calls I made in the Win32 API documentation. Also you will note that I get the console handle everytime at the beginning of the funciton, you could rewrite it so the handle is stored in some permanent variable, and then reused. This would reduce overhead for the functions, but would require an initialisation phase to be introduced, which probably lends itself to the creation of a Console class(?). Similar functions may have been supplied by the Dev-C++ team, but if not I think it would be worthwhile adding them as standard, because this question is asked so many times! The ANSI C/C++ standard makes no provision for "gotoxy" or "clrscr" functions, they were created as part of the Borland Turbo IDE's. Hello, Why rewriting what already exists ?? Go, for example, on http://mailman.qth.net where you can subscribe to whatever list you want. The server (the same kind of server as the one used here) has an analyser which removes all HTML sentences. Mesgs posted to this server and containing HTML will be forwarded to the indended list, HTML part removed and then the readers will get the following notice at the end of the mesg : <<< --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment. Attachments are not allowed. Please post in Plain-Text only.--- >>> If there is only HTML in the mesg, then the rx mesg is empty, the note saying : "HTML only, pse submit once agn, plain text only". Here is a quoting from some info mesg coming from the "Guru" (Tim Miller <tm...@ne...> ) there : <<< The stripmime is implemented as a simple filter. It reads the incoming message one line at a time, and decides if it should keep or discard that line, based on the current body section. If there is only one section, and that section is HTML formatted, then it will remove the HTML tags and leave behind plaintext. It also attempts to clean up quoted-printable text and turn it back into regular plaintext. If the message is formatted as a MIME message with a multipart/alternative of text/plain and text/html (this is how most rich text email is sent) then stripmime only keeps the text/plain section. If the message doesn't contain a text/plain section (or a top-level text/html section) then stripmime throws out everything and appends a warning message explaining what happened. It also prints a message when it removes or alters any section so that the user knows what is going on. >>> GL. In particular, I am trying to get dev cpp to compile Circlemud in an empty project, all the files needed have been added to the project, but i need it to link to WSOCK32.LIB as the program uses an IP telnet protocol system. Ive read the help file and seen the other tutorials on lib file. Im currently using devcpp 4 as ive downloaded the new version 4.9.3 or whatever it is and keep getting an error message come up THIS IS NOT A VALID WIN32 APPLICATION. UKRAWBONES |

Honestly speaking, an engine swapping out html stuff doesn't sound difficult. Simply you have an array of phrases to be removed (like <HTML>) and check every word against it. In a pseudocode C++ style: vector<string>html; string word; // ... do { // read from file a word for(vector<string>::size_type i=0; i<html.size(); i++) if(word==html[i]) { // replace word in file with "" } }while(not eof); This is my first thought. I guess we can optimise it more with binary searching in html[] etc.. But i can't do it in ASP, or CGI etc yet. :) Ioannis * Ioannis Vranos * Programming pages: http://www.noicys.cjb.net * Alternative URL: http://run.to/noicys > -----Original Message----- > From: dev...@li... > [mailto:dev...@li...] On Behalf > Of Hongli Lai > Sent: Thursday, May 30, 2002 6:44 PM > To: Bob Wilson > Cc: Dev-C++ User Mailing List > Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] HTML vs. Plain text > > > On Thu, 2002-05-30 at 15:58, Bob Wilson wrote: > > > I have noticed that a lot of you are sending HTML mesgs > > > to the ML. Hola. (just in the case that you don't read spanish). There is a place where you can find all the help about c++. named www.cplusplus.com. If you dont have a permament connection you can download the whole site to your machine and use from there. Jaime Espinosa. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? For example in other compilers as djgpp this help can be obtained pressing Ctrl-F1 keys, so, immediately appears the help windows with reference to the keyword or reserved word in which the cursor is positioned.
