Apart from irritating the life out of me with your sorry choice of html message, it would be nice if you showed a little decorum. Now on to your question, here http://www.foosyerdoos.fsnet.co.uk/ is a site with source code which compiles in Dev-C++ (some other kind soul pointed this out on another list) and gives a basic introduction to windows programming. There are several tutorials available on the net as a quick search on http://www.google.com showed. You could look here http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/scripts/ShowCode.asp?txtCodeId=3D4987&= lngWId=3D3 it is one of a series. --=20 Best regards, Malcolm mailto:m.n...@wa... |

There are a zillion C compatible libraries out there on the net, packed into .a/.lib/.dll/ files with corresponding headers (for instance libpng is one, it loads .png files into memory and can be downloaded from www.libpng.org). Also you need to consider what license you want to use, GPL is a great choice but MPL etc is also good for some purposes. If you need commercial code, you typically have to pay a lot for it or possibly use something published under the BSD license. There is no central repository or manual that covers *all* libraries out there. Figure out what you need to do/write (play an mp3 file?) etc and then ask someone what libraries and tool there is for that specific task. Don't learn stuff like MFC etc if you dont have too, there is a lot of better frameworks that make it easier to migrate when needed ie wxWindows, QT or GTK. In general, as a start, you should learn a little bit about the ANSI/ISO C library (which sucks pretty much though), and possibly some C++ and STL stuff. I use these for reference, but they are never hard to use if you dont know what you're looking for: http://www.cppreference.com/ http://www.sgi.com/tech/stl/stl_index.html regards, martin Nothin' wrote: > I am really NEW to *Dev-C++ *...I want to know :- > > * *Where I can find an E-Book or a Book or even articles on how to > work with Dev-C++.................?* > * *Where I could find information about FUNCTIONS included in the > Library files and how to use them..........?* > > Please.....Help me if anybody out there knows anything..................??? > > Gagan Plz...plz...plz... > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Do you Yahoo!? > Meet the all-new My Yahoo! <http://my.yahoo.com> – Try it today! |

When using the MySQL C or C++ API, you certainly don't need an ODBC data source, since you are connecting to the MySQL server directly, without using ODBC. Aloha from Honolulu, I just want to say thank you to Malcolm for your patient explanation. I downloaded the latest version of wxDevC++ with wxWidgets Beta 6.4. This does not open with the menu I was writing about (as was happening in Beta 6.3). Most of my stuff has been done with Windows rather than wxWidgets, so I'm very much a newbie in the wxWidgets arena. Your answer has given me insight and perked my interest, so I intend doing more with wxWidgets as opposed to Windows. I'm fairly new to Dev-C++. I've been using the latest version of the wxWindows package made by Michel Weinachter (downloadable here: http://michel.weinachter.free.fr/). My problem is, I can't use the debugger with my application. I set breakpoints and it will start my app, but the breakpoints are never reached. I've tried enabling debug symbols in the compiler options, to no avail. One other thing that the list managers may be interested to know about: my request to join the list took many hours to be responded to. This is slightly annoying for list users who don't want to wait a few hours or days to join the list and ask their question. Thanks in advance for your help. Carl Youngblood |

Hi all.
I getting involved in a project and the other members uses Visual C++ or
Borland. I'm the first on the project to use Dev-cpp.
When I compile, I get alot of errors, I've included those at the end of
the mail. Many of them look like this:
../spacesim/workroot/source/Client/processing/p_processor.h:76: error:
friend
declaration requires class-key, i.e. `friend class
PROCESSING::cProcessor'
Does that really mean that I have to add a class-key (which appears to
be the same as namespace) to all my friend declarations to make it compile?
...that would suck....
I tried making the modification in one declaration, and the error did go
away. But I do hope there is an easier way.
Thx.

I had the same problem with the same configuration (XP, DDevCpp 4990) and mysql; so I switched and now I use the sqlite devpack it works fine but the database is integrated with the application.... Hi I am preparing a console project that needs to use gotoxy and text / = background color functions due to its aim -> the application will be = pack of DOS based windows. buttons, menus etc (like norton commander). However when I put all classes in different files let's say Button.h = Button.cpp and Window.h Window.cpp and CheckBox.h CheckBox.cpp which all = derivate from major Object class and try to complie I get error on = linking stating that I have multiple definition of clrscr, clreol etc = (from files conio.c). I must say I used "#ifndef .. #define... #endif " clause on Object class = including conio.c. But the problem still exist.=20 When I put all classes into one file that's fine than.=20 I would greatly appreciate if anybody could help me.=20 What's more - if there any other way to move around console window and = change background please tell me as my teacher is dissaponted that I use = funtions basing on handles as conio.c does it... At last I can copy gotoxy, and graphical functions from conio.c directly = to object class but I'd rather don't do it. Thanks a lot for any advice Lukasz. |

Hello all. New to the mailing list and new to Dev-C++ (was using Visual C++ before, but only on lab computers on campus; would like something free to program with). What I'd like to do is get the latest version (4.9.9.0 I believe), but without a compiler. I'd like to set up MinGW 3.4.x to work with Dev-C++, as well as the latest test release of wxWidgets (2.5.3). I would rather not use the devpacks if that were at all possible. I would also like to be able to just create a project for wxWindows like you can do for Win32 Console (I currently have the Dev-C++ and compiler, but it seems a bit outdated to me (3.3.1)). If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jamie R. McPeek |

Hi mal, Thank for the reponse. hmm... I think it's frozen because I can't click onto anything or move the program. I reinstalled the program and still can't get it to work. I can create a wxframe if I go to File - New - Project - wxWidgets Frame. But if I try File - New - New wxFrame it just keeps freezing. thanks. Check the status bar, quite often the program looks as if it is frozen, but actually it is simply parsing the include files needed to create the form. Other than this perhaps there is a fault in the installation itself, and a solution may be to un- and then re-install. Same way with any C/C++ compiler #include <assert.h> or #include <cassert> and assert(<condition>); If the condition is true the program continues on it's merry way, if the condition is false then the program terminates (mosre specifically using the exit() function) Water Cooler wrote: > How do you make assertions in C code using the Visual C++ 6.0 > compiler? > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Do you Yahoo!? > Yahoo! Hi,
Sorry for my English, I'm Chinese.
I'm reading "The C++ Programming Language (Special Edition)" now, and
here is an exercise in Chap 7: 7-10-8: Write a function to invert a
two-demention array?
I tried to write some code to do it, here is a draft, for now, I don't
know how to get all arrays of a consecutive number, such as 123, we
can get 6 arrays (n!) (123,132,213,231,312,321), and how to apply this
on a two-dementions array?
And is there a great arithmetic to caculate the value of a Matrix?=20
/* Code for Exercise 7-10-8 of "The C++ Programming Language"(Special)
Here I create a function Invert(int* m, int dim) to invert a
two-dimensional array.
*/
#include <stdio.h>
using namespace std;
// Function to invert two-dimensional array=20
void invert(int* m,int dim)=20
{
=09//Step 1: Judge if the input is valid
=09=09if (m.size=3Ddim*dim) =09// N*N ranks matrix
=09=09=09=09=09
=09=09=09//Step 2: Caculate the full arrange and just their parity, then ad=
d
+ or - to each combination
=09=09=09=09int swap=3D0;
=09=09=09=09for(int n=3D1;n<=3Ddim;n++)
=09=09=09=09=09for(int i=3D1;i<=3Ddim;i++)
=09=09=09=09=09=09for(int j=3Di+1;j<=3Ddim;j++)
=09=09=09=09=09=09=09{=20
=09=09=09=09=09=09=09=09...
=09=09=09=09=09=09=09}
=09=09else
=09=09{ cerror ("Not a phalanx=EF=BC=8Cplease try again");
=09=09 exit(1);
=09=09}
=09=09=09=09
=09//Step 3: Caculate the value of the Matrix=20
=09
=09//Step 4: Caculate the value of the concomitance matrix of the original =
matrix)
=09=09int* Aplus; // the concomitance matrix
=09=09for(i=3D1;n<=3Ddim;n++)
=09=09=09for(j=3D1;i<=3Ddim;i++)
=09=09=09{
=09=09=09=09//Caculate the co-subformula of Aij=EF=BC=9B
=09=09=09=09Aplus[i][j]=3DAij;
=09=09=09}
=09
=09//Step 5: get the contrary matrix and output the result: Ainv=3DAplus/|A=
|;
=09=09for(i=3D1;i<dim;i++)
=09=09=09for(j=3D1;j<dim;j++)
=09=09=09=09Ainv[i][j]=3DAplus[i][j]/|A|;
=09=09Print_Result(...);
}
int main()
{
=09int m*;
=09cout<< "Please enter the Dimention of your array:";
=09cout<< "\nPlease input each element of your array:\n";
=09cin>>m;
=09invert(m);
}

Thanks in advance.
