Besides requesting answers to school assignments, it seems that you have also missed to read the assignment. The request is for a C program, not a C++ program. /Per W On Mon, 31 Jan 2005, Khaveta Singh wrote: > Kindly send C++ source codes on the following: |

For some reason it seems like you are trying to test code coverage in your project. When you run gcov, it will create a file 'sourcefile.gcov' containing the coverage information for a source file. Have you set the options -fprofile-arcs and/or -ftest-coverage in your project? /Per W On Mon, 31 Jan 2005, Guillermo Gutierrez wrote: > > Can anyone shed a little light on the following warning message that sometimes appears when compiling a program: > > "`nul.gcda' is not a gcov data file" > > > > I am curious to know what this means as the compiler log only says that it is in reference to the first line in the source code. > > > > Guillermo Gutierrez > > Market Scan Information Systems > > Software Q.A. Kindly send C++ source codes on the following: Design and develop storage for the hexagonal array of numbers depicted in Figure 1 below. Write a program using the C programming language to implement this data structure and to test (show) that it can store the numbers 1 through 19 such that the sum of each column and each diagonal equals 38. (It is not necessary for rows to sum to 38). Further, you are to invent a notation to describe any element of the hexagonal array and a direction along any diagonal or column. The program must allow the user to use this notation to search for elements/members of the structure. 15 14 14 13 9 8 10 6 4 11 5 12 1 2 18 7 16 17 17 19 3 Figure 1. Magic Hexagon |

I would say that your error is on line 70. You have made a lot of new lines in the end. However, are you sure that the last line is empty, and doesn't contain any spaces or tabs? Alas, my mail program can't show mey white space at end of lines. /Per W On Sun, 30 Jan 2005 ml...@gf... wrote: > Here is an example with a program I have written. Strictly speaking, it's a warning. An error will prevent it from compiling but it compiles and runs. Some errors and warnings within functions are reported with the line number of the end of the function or the beginning of the function. The compiler sometimes cannot determine where the actual problem lies. Perhaps the problem actually lies on line 2 (and in stdlib.h) as indicated. Perhaps the compiler is confused by other warnings which this program produces. Turning on all warnings with "-W -Wall -Wunused -pedantic" compiler options and I get: C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c: In function `main': C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:12: warning: implicit declaration of function `strcmp' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:16: warning: implicit declaration of function `toupper' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:10: warning: unused variable `st' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:10: warning: unused variable `string' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c: In function `findstate': C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:31: warning: implicit declaration of function `strcpy' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:31: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcpy' differ in signedness C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:32: warning: implicit declaration of function `strcat' C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:32: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcat' differ in signedness C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:33: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcat' differ in signedness C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:34: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcat' differ in signedness C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:35: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcat' differ in signedness C:/WINDOWS/Desktop/states.c:36: warning: pointer targets in passing arg 1 of `strcat' differ in signedness If you fix those warnings you might also correct the missing newline warning. Also, in Tools > Editor Options > General, make sure that "Keep Trailing Spaces" is unchecked. You have eight lines with trailing spaces. They probably aren't causing any problems but there's no use in cluttering up your code. Chuck |

I'm running the latest devcpp4991setup file, downloaded just a few days ago. I've gotten the message, however, adding a newline at the end of the offending file stopped the message. Do you somehow have a hidden or possibly misinterpreted EOF character before the actual end of the file? I'm curious if you used the on-line updating feature. On my installation, it told me that there where down rev extracted packages in the devcpp4991setup file. I performed the update of those packages and I had numerous errors, mostly in the C++ section of the include files. The problem could be isolated to the updated packages whose names started with 'gcc'. The most important ones, i.e. the core, g++, etc! Upon un-installing those updated packages and returning to the originals, the problem disappeared. BTW: I did manually delete the devcpp configuration files, and the devcpp folder. ml...@gf... wrote: While using Dev-C++ 4.9.9.1, I am getting the warning "no newline at end of file" every time I compile, and regardless of whether there is an newline or not. Now I got a resource editor (ResEd) and it works great !!!
I can now include all resources to the exe file.
But how do I load, for example, a bitmap from the recource ???
resource file:
picture BITMAP DISCARDABLE "Small.bmp"
main file:
int main(int argc, char **argv) {
HBITMAP hBM;
// how to load the resource "picture" into this handle ????

Hi, I want to add bitmap(s) as resources to my project. But how to do this ??? In the Dev help I found this: To open the Resource Editor, click on the Project menu, then on "Edit resource file". But there is no "Edit resource file" in the project menu !!! There are only 4 menu items in this menu: New File Add To Project Remove from Project -------------------- Project Options There is no resource editor !!!! Or is it a add on, that I have to install first !?!?! Maybe someone can give me an example, how exactly to add a resource to a project, please !?!?! thx, Acki |

Dear Sir I have been using an earlier version of Dev-C++and had no problems, once = I figured out what to do. However since I upgraded to=20 4.9.9.1 I can't get started, all I get is a message saying "unable to = run program file" I went through help file and FAQ but no luck. Compile log tells me "compiler: default compiler" and the path where = the files are saved. I am a novice at all this, and would appreciate = your help. any information at all. I use WinXP which has been updated. Regards Bert Breugel |

Hi Erika, There's lots of random number generators in C and C++. A good place to start is Google for 'diehard random number generator C++'. It's a good start as any RNG that can pass the Diehard tests is a good RNG. See Description of the Rand Function in Excel 2003 and Diehard Battery of Tests of Randomness. On the second link, download the zip file for Windows Software (732KB), http://www.cs.hku.hk/~diehard/cdrom/diehard.zip. After extracting, open make.txt, which has numerous RNG examples. I know this as I've been working recently on analyzing the capability of the C++ library rand() call. It totally sucks! In the alternative, I'm using something like the following, which is however, slow, and I'm looking for a faster version myself that doesn't use floating point! #define TWORAISED16 65536 unsigned int secure_random ( void ) { /* This method implements a more secure random number generator using the Wichman and Hill procedure. An unsigned integer is returned. Alfred P. Reaud, 05/01/05 12:04 VERIFIED: 05/01/05 12:48 */ int ix = 0; int iy = 0; int iz = 0; double result = 0; double rand_f = 0; double i_part = 0; // Create 3 random numbers. ix = (171 * rand()) % 30269; iy = (172 * rand()) % 30307; iz = (170 * rand()) % 30323; // Sum them as a double. result = ((double)ix / 30269.0) + ((double)iy / 30307.0) + ((double)iz / 30323.0); // Make a random number that will be 16 bits wide. rand_f = modf(result, &i_part) * TWORAISED16; result = modf(rand_f, &i_part); return ((unsigned int)i_part) % TWORAISED16; } Erika Brattich <eri...@st...> wrote: Hi everybody, does anybody where to find a random generator for C++(the function rand() in the library stdlib is not what I need)? http://esotic.com/media/EsoticDevDots.zip The zip contains the modded sample FF project and the compiled FFDots.dll along with a FFDots.bmp icon for use in the \TZT\SysData directory (FreeFrame apps can ignore it). The DLL was compiled with DevCPP (using MMX and other relevant optimizations). FFDots supports two input videos but TZT doesn't use ProcessFrameCopy yet, so could somebody please test that functionality and let me know if it works correctly? The effector is 16bit only and will work with ProcessFrame which uses black for the second layer (works well with chromakey). There is one input parameter that changes the mask shape. There is some potential for differently sized and shaped masks and other bit-depths (so feel free to get in there and hack about in the source). I may update the source to support 24 and 32 bit unless someone beats me to it. The Dots effector in TZT tends to be rather fast, and may be equally speedy in FreeFrame apps. -Dave/Esotic |

Yes, yo can do this conversion
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
main(){
printf("%d -> %c\n",'A','A');
system("pause");
return;
}

If I understand you correctly, then all you need to do is this:
int i = 65;
char c = i;
// Then as proof...
printf("%c, %d\n",c,c);
printf("%c, %d\n",i,i);
Hope this is what you meant.
