Does anyone know of a good macro that will allow one to send messages to
output during compile?
What I would like is the equivalent of MSVC's #pragma note() function.
I was considering gcc's #warning " " function.
does anyone have a macro, like NOTE(" ") that will output a message
during compile for both msvc and gcc ?

Hi I currently developing a small 3dengine for win32 + directx9 + boost STL extensions and is currently using Microsoft C++ .NET I'm would be very pleased to port the project to devCpp++.=20 Before event starting I'll send you with better=20 experience the simple question - Is this a good idea and is it possible possible. An alpha 1.0 sourcecode for C++.NET can be=20 downloaded from http://stralberg.kalix.net It would realy be great to use devCpp for this project. This is not really new, you could use it since VC4.2 (Microsoft ~1995)
The only thing was you had to include <iso646.h>:
/* iso646.h standard header */
#ifndef _ISO646
#define _ISO646
#define and &&
#define and_eq &=
#define bitand &
#define bitor |
#define compl ~
#define not !
#define not_eq !=
#define or ||
#define or_eq |=
#define xor ^
#define xor_eq ^=
#endif /* _ISO646 */
/*
* Copyright (c) 1994 by P.J. Plauger. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
* Consult your license regarding permissions and restrictions.
*/
The reason for this was that at the moment of talking about a new standard,
there were keyboards with ugly ways to access the ^~| and & key.
(And still at some keyboards you have to look a second time to find the
right key)

Subject: [Dev-C++] keywords
By the way guys and girls, did you know that in C++98 you can do:
#include <iostream>
int main()
{
int x=1, y=2;
if(x>y or x*y==2)
std::cout<<"Beep beep\n";
y=y bitand x;
x and_eq y;
}
That is to use keywords instead of || etc symbols?

Ok, I have this:
int myarray[2][2]={1,2,0,3} ;
Although that works, with all warnings enabled, it complains about
incomplete brackets.
What is the proper way to decleare an multiple array with values ?

Ok, I got GtkGlext to work in Dev-C++5, with a helluva effort. Anyone teaches me how to create a package, and I'll make one for GtkGlext. OK, guys, it's clear now.=0D
=0D
I'm a bit less concerned, because I do not use the notation =0D
char s[3] =3D "abc";=0D
but have learned to use one of the safer ones: =0D
char *s =3D "abc";=0D
or=0D
char s[] =3D "abc"; =0D
=0D
That is the reason why the piece of code seemed correct to me.=0D
=0D
Of course the following is correct both in C89 and C++98, isn't it?=0D
char s[3] =3D { 'a', 'b', 'c' }; =0D
=0D
=0D
=3D=3D> Yes, it is valid C & C++ including the following:=0D
=0D
char s[3]=3D"ab";=0D
=0D
=0D
which is equivalent to the equally valid: char s[3]=3D{'a','b','\0'};=0D

OK, guys, it's clear now.
I'm a bit less concerned, because I do not use the notation
char s[3] = "abc";
but have learned to use one of the safer ones:
char *s = "abc";
or
char s[] = "abc";
That is the reason why the piece of code seemed correct to me.
Of course the following is correct both in C89 and C++98, isn't it?
char s[3] = { 'a', 'b', 'c' };

I don't know what Lua40 or Lua50 are, but try compiling in C++ mode and put
your C declarations inside "alternate C linkage" like this:
extern "C"
{
#include "Myheader.h"
}
Hope this helps.

Hey All,
I've heard it mentioned a few times on the list that some of us
are having problems with the upgrade program for dev-cpp. I think we
all wanted to get a newer release too, but as of right now we can't. I
never saw a reply so I was curious, what gives, it's been 2 months and
that seems a bit long for an open source project.
When I tried vUpdate it said the devcpp.cfg file is missing the
SBIN field. I went ahead and searched my system for the file, but I
couldn't find anything by that name. I played around, uninstalled and
reinstalled. The initial configuration screen popped up a few times at
random, not at first run after install, but just randomly. Said it
would drop the configuration file in some folder of my user's
document's and settings (sorry I didn't write down which) but I didn't
find anything. I want to say I was the administrator or main user when
I ran that as well. well, I guess that's about it.
So, If there's any work around or anything I can do, let me
know. If I can manually build a cfg file, and try dropping it in a few
spots until it's found, maybe that'll work. Does anyone have the
updater working on XP? Also is there any way we can manually grab
updates to see if it's working. Finally, thanks allot for the time you
spend in working on this. I find Dev-cpp very useful and appreciate
your work on it allot.
Take Care,
Robert Zaleski

Hi, I noticed that when building a GTK application, the first line in the source file is #include "GTK/gtk.h" . However, the real path is C:\....\Dev-C++5\include\gtk-2.0\gtk\gtk.h. Apparently, the default GTK include folder is C:\....\Dev-C++5\include gtk-2.0\. So, I'd like to know how Dev 5 does that, or how I can manually do it, along with other default paths for lib and other stuff that are in the package. I know I can just install the package and forget about the rest of the stuff, but the reason I'm asking this question is because I want to install GtkGlext, a library that allows people to render OpenGL graphics in GTK. And since neither Dev-C++ nore GtkGlext has a package/documentation for inatallation, I'd like to know how to set it up by myself. I've sent an e-mail to the author of GtkGlext and in his reply I will need to use cgywin and open a .sh file, but the thing is I've never used cgywin before, so I have absolutely no clue. And he said to SET PATH in the DOS Prompt (I guess it's in the c:\autoexec.bat), but I never noticed Dev-C++ did that for any packages. Anyhow, my simple question is, how can I setup GtkGlext in Dev-C++? I will appreciate any replies from anyone who had experience with it, or if someone can help me set up the default folder, as I mentioned above, then I can do the rest myself. Really thanks. If I'm successful, I'll make a package for it, that is, if someone also teaches me how make a package, though I'm willing to learn.
