Has anyone attempted to put a strftime string along with a float =
on the =3D
same line? I'm attempting to use a string output from the strftime =
=3D
function and also a float together. I get error messages stating =
that =3D
the float cannot be joined with the string. =3D20

Hello.
I want to make a program that blocks the access to a PC unless a
password is provided. The thing is that I don't know how. I've =
seen
something that went fullscreen and in one corner there was a small =
login
box with the user and password fields. Wasn't DirectX or anything =

that. Just GDI. Alt-TAB wasn't working and when doing Ctrl-Alt-Del =
the
program wasn't in the Close program list.
Does anyone have a clue about how would I do this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
Sorry, my answer was a little confusing, I wrote it after =
compiling this=20
small example:
test.c
------
=
/*********************************************************************
test things like: int tab[10, 2]
=
*********************************************************************/
#include=20
void
print_arr(const int *, int);
=
/********************************************************************/
int
main()
{
int x;
int tab[10, 2];
x =3D 1, printf("x =3D %d\n", x);
tab[0] =3D 1;
tab[1] =3D 10;
print_arr(tab, 2);
return 0;
}
=
/********************************************************************/
void
print_arr(const int *arr, int n)
{
int i;
for(i =3D 0; i < n; i++)
printf("arr[%d] =3D %d\n", i, arr[i]);
}
---
When you compile it you should see the message:
test.c:17: warning left-hand operand of comma has no effect
So "do something with 10 (actually nothing)" was my pesonal =
translation
of the above warning message. :-)

Hello, i am using the writefile to place strings into a textfile from a consol app ! The following works normally char *pstr; pstr = "Prozess - Protokoll \n "; WriteFile(hfile, pstr, 25, &dwWritten, NULL); And I also can write value of e.g. "int a" by WriteFile(hfile, &a, 1, &dwWritten, NULL); But it appears as one byte only - unreadable in text browser. Now, how can I write it in ASCII - ? How CAN I convert an e.g. integer to a string ? I remember from DOS Programming, there was a function. thanks for a hint j.s. ---------------- J.Schuhmacher jsc...@gm... |

The error is that the DLL which Dev makes, does not see the functions as
being a function, you cant have things passed to it.
You can call it from DEV, but not VB.
I have tried several things, the only way i could do it is by making one in
MSVC++, i have example code for that.
But the examples come out exactly the same as when trying to make your own.
Try downloading the Borland C++ 5.5 Compiler, which is free, and try
compiling DLL's in that, i dont know if it does or not.

Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] Problem using DLL (compiled in DEV-C++) in Visual
Basic
Thanks, but I have this code in VB and it fails:
Private Declare Function multiplica Lib "d:\elektro\proyect.dll" (byval a As
integer,byval b As integer) As Integer
Private Sub Form_Activate()
MsgBox multiplica(2, 2)
End Sub
And this code for multiplica function in DEV-C++
DLLIMPORT int multiplica(int a,int b){
return a*b;
}
Where is the error ?
My DLL need the Win32 console subsistem and others DLL´s need the Win32 GUI
subsistem but I have selected in DEV-C++ Compile for Win32 (no console) ,
Create a DLL and Do not create a console in project and compiler options.
can it be the problem ?

Can I programming an ActiveX control with DEV-C++? Where can I find an example and/or documentation about it ? |

Thanks, but I have this code in VB and it fails:
Private Declare Function multiplica Lib "d:\elektro\proyect.dll" (byval a=
As integer,byval b As integer) As Integer
Private Sub Form_Activate()
MsgBox multiplica(2, 2)
End Sub
And this code for multiplica function in DEV-C++
DLLIMPORT int multiplica(int a,int b){
return a*b;
}
Where is the error ?
My DLL need the Win32 console subsistem and others DLL=B4s need the Win32=
GUI subsistem but I have selected in DEV-C++ Compile for Win32 (no=
console) , Create a DLL and Do not create a console in project and=
compiler options.
can it be the problem ?

Hi, I took a quick look at your source code, there is something that needs to be fixed but first here is why you get the 3 "undefined" errors. As the word "undefined" says, there is some definition missing: your program is made up of 4 source files, this means that to build the executable you need to compile the 4 files and link them together. If you use the Dev-C++ IDE you should create a project, add the 4 source files to it and then go ahead with a compilation (which in the case of Dev-C++ implies also the linking step). I think that you just opened the file "gradefv.cpp" in the edit window of Dev-C++ and then went on with a compilation: since you did not specify where the definitions of the 3 functions "read", "compare" and "grade" are, the linker issued the "undefined" error. As I said before there is something more: - I looked at the file "grade.cpp" but saw no definition for the function "double grade(const Student_info&)": this means that even if you link "grade.cpp", there will still be an "undefined" error about this function. - To be consistent with your programming style, the file "median.cpp" should include the file "median.h" Just in case you are not using the Dev-C++ IDE, but are familiar with the "make" program and the CLI interface of mingw, I attached the files "gradefv.mk" and "b.bat" which you could use to build your program. At 12.20 29/08/01 -0700, you wrote: >I was trying to compile a small program when the following messages popped >up in the "Compiler and Linker Output" window: > >c:\windows\TEMP\cc16bbgb.o(.text+0x110):gradefv.cpp: undefined reference >to `read(istream &, Student_info &)' > >c:\windows\TEMP\cc16bbgb.o(.text+0x194):gradefv.cpp: undefined reference >to `compare(Student_info const &, Student_info const &)' > >c:\windows\TEMP\cc16bbgb.o(.text+0x2b5):gradefv.cpp: undefined reference >to `grade(Student_info const &)' > >The compilation was said to be successful though. Lo there

There is 2 things wrong with this program. First the projects is not =
correct (there is no project file) make one or Edit=20
the one I attached to point to your paths.
Secondly there is no function writen for the grade function declared =
in the header for grade.cpp
I wrote a dummy like
//=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D SNIP =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
double grade(const Student_info& student){
//Some stuff to get the grade :)..
return -1;
}
//=3D=3D=3D END SNIP =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
Well I hope this helps. After that it all compiles and works
PS : The reason the stuff didnt compile first is because the header =
files was not in the Compiler's path to start from=20
Well C ya

c:\windows\TEMP\cc16bbgb.o(.text+0x110):gradefv.cpp: undefined =

The compilation was said to be successful though. But there was =

By the way, I am learning C++ on my own by reading Accelerated C++ =

Does anyone have a clue about how would I do this?

Hi!
Sorry, my answer was a little confusing, I wrote it after compiling =
this=20
small example:
test.c
------
=
/*********************************************************************
test things like: int tab[10, 2]
=
*********************************************************************/
#include=20
void
print_arr(const int *, int);
=
/********************************************************************/
int
main()
{
int x;
int tab[10, 2];
x =3D 1, printf("x =3D %d\n", x);
tab[0] =3D 1;
tab[1] =3D 10;
print_arr(tab, 2);
return 0;
}
=
/********************************************************************/
void
print_arr(const int *arr, int n)
{
int i;
for(i =3D 0; i < n; i++)
printf("arr[%d] =3D %d\n", i, arr[i]);
}
---
When you compile it you should see the message:
test.c:17: warning left-hand operand of comma has no effect
So "do something with 10 (actually nothing)" was my pesonal =
translation
of the above warning message. :-)

Hi,
try using get(), defined in iostream, it will immediately get and return
any character, including new lines, spaces, etc.
You will have to write a routine to ignore the characters you don't want,
but that is fairly simple.

Hi!
Sorry, my answer was a little confusing, I wrote it after compiling this
small example:
test.c
------
/*********************************************************************
test things like: int tab[10, 2]
*********************************************************************/
#include <stdio.h>
void
print_arr(const int *, int);
/********************************************************************/
int
main()
{
int x;
int tab[10, 2];
x = 1, printf("x = %d\n", x);
tab[0] = 1;
tab[1] = 10;
print_arr(tab, 2);
return 0;
}
/********************************************************************/
void
print_arr(const int *arr, int n)
{
int i;
for(i = 0; i < n; i++)
printf("arr[%d] = %d\n", i, arr[i]);
}
---
When you compile it you should see the message:
test.c:17: warning left-hand operand of comma has no effect
So "do something with 10 (actually nothing)" was my pesonal translation
of the above warning message. :-)

Here is a snip from the wrox press tutorial, it might help explain a few =
things:
Try It Out - The Comma Operator
The comma operator allows you to specify several expressions where =
normally only one might occur. This is best understood by looking at an =
example of how it is used:
// EX1_05.CPP
// Exercising the comma operator
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
long num1 =3D 0, num2 =3D 0, num3 =3D 0, num4 =3D 0;
num4 =3D (num1 =3D 10, num2 =3D 20, num3 =3D 30);
cout << endl
<< "The value of a series of expressions "
<< "is the value of the right most: "
<< num4;
cout << endl;
return 0;
}
How It Works
If you compile and run this program you will get this output:
The value of a series of expressions is the value of the right most: 30
This is fairly self-explanatory. The variable num4 receives the value of =
the last of the series of three assignments, the value of an assignment =
being the value assigned to the left-hand side. The parentheses in the =
assignment for num4 are essential. You could try executing this without =
them to see the effect. Without the parentheses, the first expression =
separated by commas in the series will become:
num4 =3D num1 =3D 10
So, num4 will have the value 10.
Of course, the expressions separated by the comma operator don't have to =
be assignments. We could equally well write the following:
long num1 =3D 1, num2 =3D 10, num3 =3D 100, num4 =3D 0;
num4 =3D (++num1, ++num2, ++num3);
The effect of this assignment would be to increment the variables num1, =
num2 and num3 by 1, and to set num4 to the value of the last expression =
which will be 101.=20
This example is aimed at illustrating the effect of the comma operator, =
and is not an example of how to write good code. As you can see, writing =
an assignment statement in this fashion can be very misleading.

Subject: [Dev-C++] Dev-c++ and array !
Hello everybody ! ! !
Very strange :
Dev-c++ accept the declaration "int Tab[10,10];" (it's not permitted =
Visual C++ and Borland C++ don't accpet it) but finally Dev-c++ ignore =
the first value so if we declare :=20
- "int Tab[10,2];" for Dev-c++ it means : "int Tab[2];"=20
Strange isnt'it ?=20
