This looks very interesting, because it seems I might be able to create an interface using VC++ following these hints. I hope I will find the time to try it, at least. Regards, Wolfgang |

Important note: When M$ are involved, there can be no standard but what M$ does for the moment :) The ABI (Application Binary Interface) is something that must be specified for each and every target platform (OS and processor architecture) supported, i.e. it can normally not be the same between different platforms. Life is simple when the OS is written in C++ - then the OS manufacturer have already decided what ABI there should be. The current Windows releases are written with C interfaces and the future Windows releases will have .NET interfaces... This is a nice link to read: http://aegisknight.org/cppinterface.html One more little link: https://pyre.virge.net/cgi-bin/info2www?(gcc)Compatibility /Per W On Thu, 26 Jan 2006, Wolfgang Wegner wrote: > Hi, > On Wed, Jan 25, 2006 at 07:03:23PM +0100, Per Westermark wrote: > > When using C++ libraries, I would recommend you to use the same > > compiler that was used when creating the libraries. > > > > For C++, there is no single standard for the memory layout of data > > objects, the placement of virtual method tables, the name mangling etc. > > I almost can't believe it - if C++ is such a non-standardized crap^H^H^Hthing, > why does anybody use it at all? > > Or, another question, there are so many .dll's out there, how about > these? When using C++ libraries, I would recommend you to use the same compiler that was used when creating the libraries. For C++, there is no single standard for the memory layout of data objects, the placement of virtual method tables, the name mangling etc. /Per W On Wed, 25 Jan 2006, Wolfgang Wegner wrote: > Dear list members, > > I am quite new to windows and C++ programming (did quite much C under > unix up to now). > > My task is to write a program using a proprietary C++-API (device > driver) which I only have in a binary version for VC6 or VS.net. Your task is to remove me from your mailing list or at least have one of your genious associates fix the unsubscribe page. However, when linking against the library, I always get "undefined references" for the methods contained in the library. I tried converting the library using reimp, but apart from that it works other than expected (it gives me a bunch of object files that I can then again put together to a library using ar) this does not make any difference. There is no single, really perfect and simple solution. Using active-x controls would allow you to use IE for the HTML processing. A simplified solution - with a number of limitations - would be to use the wxHTMLWindow class for processing HTML. A third alternative is to just use shell commands to have IE, Netscape, ... or whatever start and print the document for you. Real code for the above suggestions are of course directly available using google. /Per W On Mon, 23 Jan 2006, Noorez Kassam wrote: > how would i send html documents to my printer? > i find tutorials to send text line by line, but that would print all > the tags and stuff, and not the actual html page... > can anyone help? |

Hi, Noorez Kassam,
I would try first "const T&":
bool basic_bignumber<T, __low_value, __high_value>::operator>( const T&
test )
(I cannot test it now)
I think there is something wrong with the prototype of the
compare-operator. The compiler gets
no match in cases of parameter-types-incompatibilities. The "name" of
the compare method is correct,
that's clear: "operator>".
best regards,
Wolf Peuker

I'm having trouble using a template that i have.
I'm making a template class, and overloaded the comparison operator >.
The function below should compare the type of my class, with the template
parameter T. I tested it with int as the type for the template and attempted
to this comparison
basic_bignumber<int,0,9> value(15);
if( value > 3 )...
but the compiler complained and said there was no match for operator>
for value>3. Anyone have any ideas with whats wrong?
template< typename T, int __low_value, int __high_value >
bool basic_bignumber<T, __low_value, __high_value>::operator>( T& test )
{
basic_bignumber< T, __low_value, __high_value > compare( test );
int pos1 = 0, pos2 = 0;
for( int i = 0; i < value_size; i++ )
{
if( value[ i ] == 0 ) continue;
pos1 = i;
break;
}
for( int i = 0; i < compare.value_size; i++ )
{
if( compare.value[ i ] == 0 ) continue;
pos2 = i;
break;
}
if( pos1 == 0 && pos2 == 0 ) return false; //all were zero's
else if( pos1 != 0 && pos2 == 0 ) return true; //if this had something
//while the other didn't
else if ( pos1 == 0 && pos2 != 0 ) return false; //if this didn't have
//anything, while the
other
//did
//if the the total value_size - (pos+1) is then compare, there
//are more values, so this would be greater...
if( value_size-(pos1+1) > compare.value_size-(pos2+1) ) return true;
//so if both the pos's are the same and the value's are both of
//the same size...check each individual digit...
bool greater = true;
for( int i = pos1; i < value_size; i++ )
{
if( value[ i ] < compare.value[ i ] ) greater = false;
else continue;
}
return greater;
}

Hi, Klaas Mussche,
you forgot the definition of the static class member it looks like this:
// class definition:
class A {
public:
// declaration of static class member b:
static int b;
};
// definition of static class member b:
int A::b;
// or alternatively with initial value (best practice):
int A::b=42;
cheers, Wolf
ps: do you come from java?

Hi, I subscribed to this mailing list last night. Is this a good place to get some advices about programming with "Bloodshed Dev-C++" in conjunction with "TrollTech QT 4.1.0 OpenSource" (running on WinXP platform) ? Regards, Dominique |

Okay, I know, there's already a code browser which updates itself whenever you open or save a file. But I don't really need a such h.e.a.v.y. thing. 5. class foo

Hey, I am trying to make a class with some static pointers to allegro bitmaps. But now i cannot access the static data on the normal way. I declared the data so: static BITMAP* bmp; and tried to access it from other= , non-static member functions from the same class by using simply bmp, but that don't work. Using Classname::bmp also don't work, not in the other non-static member functions from the same class, and not from other functions, such as main(). I have included the header file. I always get th= e same error's: [Linker error] undefined reference to `Classname::bmp' for every time I tried to access the static date. I have also tried to make a static int but that also don't work. Could anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong? |
