The advice I should've given to the problem, which I totally neglected to
mention, is, if you find that your repeating statements, like all though's
'for else' statements, sit back and think on how you can get a loop to do
all the work for you, don't rush the job. I use to rush. After I sent my
tests in and had a bit of time to think, clearer and better answers would
come to mind. I'd be slapping my forehead and kicking myself, "If I only
waited and thought about it", my marks would have been much better as they
are now.

I've just finished a course on 'C' and I'm starting 'C++', the namespace
thing from what I've read really comes into its own when you start defining
your own headers. No there is nothing wrong with using the 'C' headers,
that's part of the power of C++. It was just me spouting what I've read,
take no notice of that. In the end your work should reflect what you are
comfortable with. Also, a big sorry about my earlier reply, I was drunk at
the time and thought I was being witty. The compiler has laughed at my work
also, more than enough times. But its getting better, its hard to grasp
these things when your starting off on this road and when they sink in, the
laughing gets less and less.

Hello Jesse,
To open the CD-ROM tray use:
mciSendStringA("set CDAudio door open",NULL,0,0)
and to close it:
mciSendStringA("set CDAudio door closed",NULL,0,0)
You have to include the file "mmsystem.h" in your program and the file
"libwinmm.a" in the project option (Further object files or linker
options).
Bye.

We are talking about C++.
<cstdlib>, <cctype> e.t.c. have the C library functions defined in
namespace std. So, if you want to use printf using <cstdio> you should
write:
#include <cstdio>
int main()
{
using std::printf;
// or using namespace std;
printf("Hello World!\n");
}
If you use <stdio.h> e.t.c. you do not need to use the using statement.
For example:
#include <stdio.h>
int main()
{
printf("Hello World!\n");
}
The C subset header files of C++ with the .h extension are defined with
something like this:
--- stdio.h ---
#include <cstdio>
using std::printf;
// ...
Now C++ standard library uses only headers without extensions with the
need of using statement.
For example:
#include <iostream> // Correct
// ...
#include <iostream.h> // Incorrect in ANSI C++ (1998)!
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I took a look at Vassili's solution.
At the beginning of the (attached) file there are the lines:
-----------
...
#include <cstdlib>
#include <cctype>
-----------
I would have included the files: stdlib.h and ctype.h instead of cstdlib
and cctype.
Is there anything wrong with my approach?

Hi, I took a look at Vassili's solution. At the beginning of the (attached) file there are the lines: ----------- ... #include <cstdlib> #include <cctype> ----------- I would have included the files: stdlib.h and ctype.h instead of cstdlib and cctype. Is there anything wrong with my approach? Hi, I've installed Dev-C++ to be able to compile some C sources that I've programmed under Linux. But I want to use GTK+ for Windows. I installed the header file, and lib file. But when I compile my project, there're problem for linking the executable. Dev-C++ find header file, etc but not the lib file. I added -Lc:\dev-c++\lib\gtk where I putted all the lib files, but that didn't work. Is there anybody who use GTK+ with Windows with Dev-C++ ? So please help me !! Thanks, Manu |

The prob appears to be in your if statement. Using a single equals =
character in an if statement tends to assign a vlale rather than do the =
comparison sort. Use two equal signs for the comparison to work.

HELLO USERS, COULD ANY SMART PROGRAMMERS HELP ME WITH A PROBLEM, IT IS AS
FOLLOWS. I HAVE AN ARRAY CALLED CHOICE, AN ARRAY CALLED NUM AND A MENU WITH
ITEMS A TO I,
THE USER SELECTS AN ITEM(CHOICE) AND THEN A QUANTITY(NUM)
AS YOU CAN SEE FROM MY CODE ABOVE CALCULATING AN INVOICE FOR THIS CUSTOMER
IS TEDIUOS AND INEFFICIENT.
IS THERE ANOTHERWAY I COULD ATTEMPT THIS WITHOUT USING THIE METHOD BELOW
if (choice [1]=a)
{
cost1= a*num[1];
}
if (choice [1]=b)
{
cost1= b*num[1];
if (choice [1]=c)
{
cost1= c*num[1];
}
if (choice [1]=d)
{
cost1= d*num[1];
}
if (choice [1]=e)
{
cost1= e*num[1];
if (choice [1]=f)
{
cost1= f*num[1];
}
if (choice [1]=g)
{
cost1= g*num[1];
}
if (choice [1]=h)
{
cost1= h*num[1];
if (choice [1]=i)
{
cost1= i*num[1];
if (choice [1]=i)
{
cost1= i*num[1];
DO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN I NEED A CALCULATION FOR EACH COMPONENT FOR THE ARRAY
WHICH MATCHES EACH POSSIBLE SELECTION. THIS MEANS I NEED TO WRITE ANOTHER 9
LISTS OF IF STATEMENTS AS ABOVE.
ALSO I WOULD LIKE GUIDANCE ON HOW I CAN ASK THE USER FOR AN ITEM AND THEN A
QUANTITY, RATHER THAN ASK FOR ALL ITEMS AND THEN ALL QUANTITIES TO MATCH THE
ITEMS.
PS GISAN IF YOU ARE READING THIS THANKS AGAIN FOR POINTING ME IN THE RIGHT
DIRECTION (ARRAYS).

In regards to Andre's question about about resources.. Well, Im the linux newbie (24 hours) but Corel Linux has a Live Sys Resources window command just like Win2000.. BTW.. Im having Linux Corel Hell... I know this isnt the place to talk about Linux so if anyone can point me towards a mailing list they would recommend, I would most appreciate it. And if anyone is using Corel Linux and is feeling so kind and generous to donate their brain, I would be forever grateful. |

Hi all ! There was a nasty bug in version 4.0 and 4.01 which was preventing people to link their DLL project with external libraries or object files. This update is intended to correct this problem only, there is no need to update your version with it if you don't do DLLs that links with external files. You can download it from : http://www.haikuzone.org/dev/devcpp401b.zip Greetings, Colin Laplace web...@bl... http://www.bloodshed.net |

Hello people. I was wondering how do i make a program
that depends on a dll. What i mean is like the program
uses the dll to show pictures in the program and does
special funcition like make changes to registry. also
if you can send sample code.
ThanX's.

If it's important I'm using Caldera open, I'm in the process of > downloading Redhat but thats gonna take a while:) Using the command free will give you the mem stats. The command procinfo will show a summary of system resources. Some systems don't have procinfo installed so the cat /proc/<resource_you_want_to_see> command will work. Example: cat /proc/interrupts will show the usage of IRQ's on your system... AND cat /proc/dma will show the DMA channels in use. Using top will show running services on the system. The command df -aH (disk free -all Human readable) will show the partitions on your drive(s) and the total usage [Used] and [Free] of disk space. The command du -H /directory where directory is the specific directory you wish to look at, will show the files and total amount of space each has used.. Using du without a switch will show ALL the files on the drive and total usage.. I'd like to suggest you try Mandrake as it has some very good tools using graphical interface and over all seems to be much nicer than redhat while staying RH compliant.. The 2.4x kernel has pretty good USB support and Linux-Mandrake 7.2 and 8.0 support it , SuSE 7.3 has the 2.4x kernel and , I believe, RedHat 7.0 and 7.1 ..... Mandrake 7.2 has the 2.2.17 installed by default but there is a kernel upgrade RPM for the 2.4x kernel. SUSE has the best manual I've seen for version 6.3 and also there are a number of SAMS books that cover the subject pretty clearly.. Unix in a nutshell has helped me a lot even though it is not srtictly linux.. I don't know of any place where there is a list of commands (I wish I did) although there are many places where you can look for commands specific to your needs. Possibly build your own personal list from them. -- Ken Thompson Electrocom Computer Services Payette, Idaho Web: http://www.nwaa.com Email: ad...@nw... |
