Hi, I could not find libg2c in my dev-c++ distribution either, but somewhere else in my PC I have also installed Mingw32, and it does include that file, but it does not include g2c.h. Go to : http://www.mingw.org/download.shtml and get the file gcc-g77-3.4.5-20051220-1.tar.gz and good luck. I am trying to use the AMD Core Math Library (AMCL). Their documentation says I have to link with libg2c, but this does not appear to be in the distribution. Can you tell me where to get it, and, if this is an issue, which version to get? I am using Dev C++ 4.9.9.2. Thanks for an help you can give me. |

Hi Tyler,
It's a useful feature, but sometimes buggy or inscrutable. As you type a function or method name, you get a list of functions, methods, or optional parameters that you can select from, simplifying typing. There are catches though, as always... If you have, i.e. wxWidgets installed, you'll get a plethora of possibilities (some functions had up to 24 entries depending on what header files or libraries are installed) for simple things. I've also had this feature cause crashes of Dev-C++, thereby loosing work, so save your sources regularly.
Remember to enable the cache and pre-compile it if using this feature.

If you're just starting, then no, there is nothing else. When you get more advanced then you can introduce yourself to graphical programming (toolkits like wxWidgets and SDL) but until then, the console is far easier for learning purposes. Oh yeah, you can output to files, too. On 1/13/06, Gary Lefebvre <gar...@co...> wrote: > > I am starting to program in C using DevC++ and I am wondering if there > are any alternatives to the output. I am starting to program in C using DevC++ and I am wondering if there are any alternatives to the output. Is the output always going to be the MSDOS command prompt window or are there any alternatives? |

Dear all: I have download the Dev C++ 4.9.9.2 and tried, it is a good IDE. But I now have a problem: Product: Dev C++ Version: 4.9.9.2 Problem description: The File->Export->to HTML can not really export the whole project. It only export the project file to generate an html file, although all the source file names are listed there, but you can not really click the link and open you source file which should has been transformed to an html file. But single source file can be transformed. And, I have a suggestion: I think it's better not to list the absolute paths of the source files on the project html page. Please the developer have a kindly check. Thank you. As kalb mentioned, you can send it an end of file character using an
escape sequence to terminate the loop.
Another way would be to change the test to
for (nc = 0; '\n' != getchar(); ++nc);
That will test for a newline instead of EOF, which should make the loop
terminate when you hit the enter key.

But Gary doesn't want more than one command. He really doesn't want any
commands at all to be performed in the body of the for loop. It's all in
the side effects of the second and third loop expression...
The program is just expected to receive characters (2nd expression) and
count them (3rd expression) and then - after the loop has finished on
end-of-file - print out the total.
Besides looking at the syntactics of the code, the indentation is a hint
:)

Try this:
for (/*whatever you had here.... I'm lazy - srry*/) printf();
instead of for(); printf();, which treats them as seperate statements.
If you want more that one command in the loop, you must use brackets
(unless there's something I don't know about, in which case you will
tell me, right?)

Short note: "empty" loops are quite common, i.e. all the side effects are
in the second and third expression.
