Hello! I'm trying to run one of the example programs of the wxWindows tutorial using the Dev-C++ 4 IDE (under Windows 2000). =46or this purpose I first installed and built the wxWindows library according to the recommendations given on http://www.wxwindows.org/devcpp.htm. Compilation of the sample application (see attachment) happens without problems, but linking fails due to following errors: <LINKER-ERRORS> C:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioExperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o: In function `wxCreateApp(void)': //c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplicatio= n.cpp:8: multiple definition of `wxCreateApp(void)' c:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioexperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o://c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplica= tion.cpp:8: first defined here C:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioExperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o: In function `wxGetApp(void)': //c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplicatio= n.cpp:8: multiple definition of `wxGetApp(void)' c:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioexperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o://c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplica= tion.cpp:8: first defined here C:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioExperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o: In function `HelloWorldApp::OnInit(void)': //c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplicatio= n.cpp:10: multiple definition of `HelloWorldApp::OnInit(void)' c:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioexperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o://c/work/rf-econ/artefacts/2003_01_29_ioexperiments/sw/src/testapplica= tion.cpp:10: first defined here C:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioExperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o: In function `wxWindowBase::IsShown(void) const': //C/PROGRA~1/WXWIND~1.0/include/wx/window.h(.bss+0x0): multiple definition of `wxTheAppInitializer' c:\work\rf-econ\artefacts\2003_01_29_ioexperiments\sw\src\testapplication= .o(.bss+0x0)://C/PROGRA~1/WXWIND~1.0/include/wx/window.h: first defined here C:\PROGRA~1\DEV-C_~1\Bin\ld.exe: C:\Programme\wxWindows-2.4.0\lib\libwxmswd.a(frame.o): warning: duplicate section `.data$__vt_7wxFrame' has different size C:\PROGRA~1\DEV-C_~1\Bin\ld.exe: C:\Programme\wxWindows-2.4.0\lib\libwxmswd.a(framecmn.o): warning: duplicate section `.data$__vt_7wxFrame' has different size C:\PROGRA~1\DEV-C_~1\Bin\ld.exe: C:\Programme\wxWindows-2.4.0\lib\libwxmswd.a(mdi.o): warning: duplicate section `.data$__vt_7wxFrame' has different size C:\PROGRA~1\DEV-C_~1\Bin\ld.exe: C:\Programme\wxWindows-2.4.0\lib\libwxmswd.a(logg.o): warning: duplicate section `.data$__vt_7wxFrame' has different size C:\PROGRA~1\DEV-C_~1\Bin\ld.exe: C:\Programme\wxWindows-2.4.0\lib\libwxmswd.a(utilsexc.o): warning: duplicate section `.data$__vt_7wxFrame' has different size </LINKER-ERRORS> I would like to know what the problem is and how I can solve it. Hi. I think I know why the empty resource file is created and I concider it a= bug. In 'Project'->'Project Options'->'Version Info' you have checked AND= unchecked the 'include version...' This makes the compiler complaint: [Resource Error] no resources /J=F6rgen *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 2003-01-31 at 22:03 Tim Trischuk wrote: >Thanks to Carlos (cgm1) for pointing out where to put default include >directories. Thanks to Carlos (cgm1) for pointing out where to put default include directories. It works nice. Now, along with Ioannis' dev-cpp fix file I am moving right along. One issue came up that someone else might encounter - all of a sudden I started getting build errors complaining of an empty resource file. Apparently Dev-cpp just writes this file for some reason, most likely in response to something I did, but you can not compile until you simply delete this resource file again. Is that a bug or a feature? |
