MINGW32 is the port of GCC for Windows. Dev-C++ uses the MINGW32 compiler system. However not all portions of MINGW32 are under GNU GPL.=0D =0D "When Colin Peters released the MinGW runtime he placed the source into t= he public domain. Why ? AFAIK, Dev-C++ is distributed under the terms of the GNU license regardless of the OS under which it is compiled. Also (see point 1 of version 2 of GNU license) "... output of the Program is covered only if its contents constitute a work based on the Program ..." So you may write your own program, develop it using Dev-C++ and distribute it under the license which best suits your needs. > I guess Mingw32 is not implemented on Linux, am I correct ? AFAIK, Mingw is a port of GNU gcc (and other tools) to Windows, so there is no need of it on Linux, as one uses gcc (or the other tools) directly. > > Regards, > Piotr -- >> gisan >> Caution: Keep out of reach of children. |

Sorry, that was not the problem that caused the crash, though it WAS a
problem. In lerror, you'd created
a pointer that wasn't initialized. This works:
void lerror(long msg) {
static TCHAR tcMsg[33];
_ltoa(msg,tcMsg,10);
error(tcMsg);
}

My guess:
The problem is not with the hWnd. It's with the LPRECT. It's a pointer
pointing to an unknown location. Try changing it to a RECT and then pass
&rect to GetClientRect().

Hello again, I'm having some trouble with a bit of code, and it's a strange bug to = track down. I found in a fit of frustration that 9 times out of 10 when = I run this program it terminates in the layout function (at the = bottom).. as far as I can tell it's the GetClientRect function that's = causing the error. I put in the lerror function to print the HWND in a = message box, and then the program started terminating on that line! I = have no idea if the two are related. But at any rate, the strangest = part is the fact that if I run the program over and over without = compiling, about 1 in 10 times a message box will pop up with a valid = HWND, and the program will go on from there without a problem. What on = earth could be causing this? If anybody wants to test this out I posted = netstalker.c and netstalker.h at http://dreamjunky.com/netstalker.c and = you can guess the other path. Hi!
Can someone tell me what is wrong in this? I just install the package
and create a new project, and I don´t change anything.
Thanks

Hi all,
I would like to build a project that includes generated cpp files: I do it
with a custom makefile using the all-before target. It works fine, but there
is a problem: if these files are not not generated yet, DevCpp removes these
files from the project, and I have to re-add them. I think it would be a
good idea not to remove these files, and just do as if they were present.

Greets, people. I'm sorry, but I had a virus on my comp some days back. All you guys may have received a message from me (a screensaver named `Love'). Tino, I got it from you (you're infected, buddy). If you have received it and run it, then you're infected too. If you haven't opened it, DON'T! Don't trust anti-virus programs, unless you have the latest updates. Norton 2002 didn't detect it). Here's what I did. NOTE: I have XP. I don't know if this process will work on Win9x. If it doesn't, mail me, I'll try to help. Also, you have to follow these steps in the right order. CLEANING: 1. Delete the message (Not this one, stupid! The one that says `Love screensaver' or something). 1. Try opening task-manager (press Ctrl-Alt-Del). If it disappears immediately, it means you're infected. Regedit, Norton, etc. most probably won't open too. 2. Download any process-viewer/killer application. I used PrcView (which was, fortunately, already installed on my system). Get it at http://www.teamcti.com. 3. Run it, kill the process called `WinServices.exe' or `WinServices'. Confirm that you want to kill it when it asks you. Note that it is `WinServices', not merely `Services', which is a legitimate process. 4. Delete the file c:\windows\system32\WinServices.exe If you don't trust me, just back it up (keep it zipped, and rename it to .tmp, so that there's no chance of accidental re-infection). 5. Go to `Start' > `Run'. Type `regedit', and click OK. 6. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. 7. Delete the value on the right that says something like this: c:\windows\system32\WinServices.exe 9. Forward this mail to everyone in your address-book (if you use Outlook Express/Netscape Messenger/Eudora/etc.) Web-mail users are safe (I think). SYMPTOMS OF INFECTION: 1. Task manager closes as soon as it's opened. 2. Regedit, Anti-virus programs don't run. 3. You get mail from people in your people you don't know, saying that you sent them a message. 4. People in you address-book get mail from you, when you haven't sent any. 5. Your hard-disk is thrashing. Sorry for the long (and possibly unnecesary) mail. ___________________________________________________________ Abhijit Shylanath E-mail: mu...@gm... || ibr...@bi... hello, i just downloaded the dev-cpp file and installed it. included is the c, cpp- compiler and other programs. i thought within the gnu software there ist one c-compiler and once c++-compiler but regarding the directories i find the following programs: dev-cpp\bin: c++.exe, c++filt.exe, cpp.exe, g++.exe, gcc.exe, mingw32-c++.exe, mingw32-g++.exe, mingw32-gcc.exe dev-cpp\lib\gcc-lib\libmingw32\3.2: cc1.exe, cc1obj.exe, cc1plus.exe, cpp0.exe what the hell are all these programs doing? and why are all these necessary ? why there is not one c-compiler, one cpp-compiler and one preprocessor in the bin-directory ? greetings andreas |

While you're at it, check the `Directories' tab also. My guess is that one of these has not been configured properly. Try installing Dev into a `simple' path; one without special characters (hyphens) and long filenames, something like `d:\program\devcpp'. It's weird that it happens only for large projects. How many files do you have in the project? > Is the gcc 2.95 version better? Some options are unavailable (or changed) in 3.2, and therefore corresponding options in Dev generate warnings that they're no longer available. GCC 3.2 is much more ISO-compliant than 2.95, and also creates more efficient (and sometimes smaller) EXEs. However, if you want to use Dev with the project and nothing seems to work, 2.95 is worth a try. And a Happy New Year!!!!! WOOHOO! Sorry. ___________________________________________________________ Abhijit Shylanath E-mail: mu...@gm... || ibr...@bi... Web-site: http://mudeth.tripod.com/ |

Just a note. On some systems, the case-insensitive function is named strcasecmp instead of stricmp. That's one of the reasons why people gets compile errors when trying to build wxWindows applications without using a correct project that defines what target to build for. /Per W On Tue, 31 Dec 2002, Abhijit Shylanath wrote: > TELSYS > Greets, Dondolo. > > ----- Original Message ----- > The problem I get is when evaluating my input, I get errors....c++ permits > me to evaluate a single character but not string of characters. > ---------------------------- > > Strings are actually arrays (which are actually pointers).
