Am using Dev 4.0 and want to go to 4.01. Which files do I need to downlo= ad, and how do I install the upgrade? Do I need to do a complete re-inst= all? Any help is well appreciated. Thank you, JFK. |

Hello ! I'm not very happy about the following features of Dev-C++: - there is no way to compile a single file - "compile project" compiles everything (even files for which obj is up-to-date) I decided to work around this by using directly the Mingw compiler. To start, I looked at the file produced by Dev when you ask to generate the makefile and I have some questions: - has a DOS command line (Win 98 - DOS box) any max length (in old DOS there was a 128 char limit)? - does gcc have anyhing like the "response file" of bcc32? - when developing a console mode application, do I need to link rsrc.o? thank you for your help. -- gisan |

Hello, You can use: GetSystemMetrics(SM_CXSCREEN) to get the screen width an GetSystemMetrics(SM_CYSCREEN) for the height. The function return the size in pixels. You have to add libuser32.a in your project option and to include windows.h. Bruno Jay Silverman a =E9crit : > Is there anyway to get a resolution size of the users computer? I hope that you'll find the attached files of some help. I suggest that upon splitting the name of the file, the separator is not=20 discarded, instead it is kept as the last char of the path: doing so allows= =20 you to rebuild the name of the file by joining what has been returned by= =20 "thepath" (as long as it is not NULL) and what has been returned by=20 "thefile" regardless of which is the separator (i.e. a backslash, a colon=20 or a slash). To run an external program try the standard function:
int system(const char *cmd)
which is included in stdlib.h
A trivial (DOS) example:
system("pause");

For executing an external file try WinExec(). As for the resolution - there is a way - I'll have to look it up though! The system(char *) function executes system commands. E.g.
system("dir"); executes the dir command. system("t.exe"); executes
t.exe.

The previous code that I sent is for converting a dos/windows path to unix path. I hadn't read carefully what you have written. If you want to split the directory path from the filename in a dos/windows environment use this: #include <string.h> ... char s[]=3D"path\\filename"; char filename[255]; char path[1024]; size_t i; char *p=3Dstrrchr(s, "\\"); strcpy(filename, p); for(i=3D0; i<p-s; i++) path[i]=3Ds[i]; path[i]=3D'\0'; This can be done better but it is a quick (and error-prone) example. Sure it would be faster. LOL! = P And for the matter of the "/" (UNIX) and "\" ( DOS ) well, you could perform a first research on the "/" or the "\". If you don't get one then you know which one to use, and you could set a state variable to remember which one to find next. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Max The Hunted" <ma...@va...> To: <dev...@li...> Sent: Thursday, June 07, 2001 1:18 PM Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] ANSI C: How to split path and filename Why wouldn't you go from the end to the beginning, and try to find a '\'? Don't forget that Unix uses forward slashes and DOS (somewhat =
annoyingly,
IMO) uses backslashes. So if you're testing for a particular =
character, it
won't work indentically on different platforms.

What you can do is a loop, where the condition is " do I find another \ " ? And you could do like this. You find the first "\" copy "c:\" in a string. Look for another "\" paste the sequel to the first string I mean : "things\" to " c:\" and you get a string with : "c:\things\" then you look for another "\" And you have : "alfa\" paste it to your string, and you get "c:\things\alfa\" Since you don't have anymore "\" the rest of the string will be a filename. Use the strstr() function strcp() ( if I remember the name ). They are all in the string.h Hope it helps. Hello,
how do I split my path and my filename?
Example:
c:\things\alfa\myfile.txt
like: char *thepath ----> c:\things\alfa
char *thefile ----> myfile.txt
in ANSI C (or C), meaning the same way with DOS or UNIX
There is anywhere to find this kind of things? (I couldn't find in the help
neither in Bob Stout's snippets)
Thanks.

Well the truth is i dont feel like doing all that but go to filesearching.com, and the type the name of your file such as atliface.h and click search, then download it. |

Hello everyone, I have been recently downloading the Platform SDK in hope of getting the following files but it is becoming too long to wait on my slow Internet connection. If anyone can find these files on their hard drive, I would be very pleased if you could send them to me as an attachment: crtdbg.h atliface.h atlconv.h Before you send them, however, would you mind looking through and searching for any #include statements. Any files that need to be included that do not come with Dev-C++ as part of the standard package, I would also like to have, so that my project will compile. Thank you very much, Ramana If you want to make money for surfing the Internet, join Spedia today: http://www.spedia.net/cgi-bin/tz.cgi?run=show_svc&fl=8&vid=2435981 <http://www.spedia.net/cgi-bin/> |
