Long time since I wrote anything using naked Win32 API. However, if the
WM_PAINT isn't for your specific control, shouldn't you call any default
WM_PAINT code?

Hi everybody,
I am new on this list because I'am newby to dev-cpp programming too.
Earlier I did my C/C++ progs with CBuilderX or BCB but all over the time =
my
favorite
language was Pascal (with Delphi). I have a bit expierience with Win32 AP=
I,
but when
I start to use dev-cpp the steairs seams to grown up.
My api uses a tab controll asociated with main window.
There are some other controls too asociated with the main window (ie. sta=
tus
bar)
standing visible all the time. Other controls visibility hangs on tab ind=
ex.
On the page called "gobos" I have listbox to choose file/directory and a
small static window to display
choosen image file. This is made on LBN_DBLCLK msg.
Code to display bitmap is executed on WM_PAINT event. Here is it:
case WM_PAINT:
{
if(int iPage =3D TabCtrl_GetCurSel( g_hwndTab )=3D=3D 3)
{
HDC hdc =3D BeginPaint(g_hwndBMP, &ps);//pobierz hdc celu
if(hdc =3D=3DNULL)MessageBox(g_hwndMain,"brak kontekstu","",MB_OK);
HDC memoryDC =3D CreateCompatibleDC( hdc );//kreuj =BCr=F3d=B3owy hd=
c
GetClientRect(g_hwndBMP, &rcClient);
HBITMAP bmp =3D CreateCompatibleBitmap( hdc, rcClient.right,
rcClient.bottom );
HBITMAP oldBmp =3D (HBITMAP)SelectObject( memoryDC, g_bmp );//przypi=
sz
bitmap=EA do kontekstu
BitBlt( hdc, 0, 0, rcClient.right, rcClient.bottom, memoryDC, 0, 0,
SRCCOPY );
SelectObject( memoryDC, oldBmp );
DeleteDC( memoryDC );
DeleteObject( bmp );
EndPaint(g_hwndBMP, &ps);
}
GetClientRect(g_hwndMain, &rcClient); WHEN I OMIT
THIS THREE PROCEDURES
InvalidateRect(g_hwndMain, &rcClient, TRUE); THE MAIN WINDOW
OPENS EMPTY
UpdateWindow(g_hwndMain); AND GRAYE=
D
break;
g_bmp points to bitmap loaded from file on LBN_DBLCLK.
My problem is that since I've added this OnPaint event as shown upper, al=
l
tab control rectangle does not refresh at all,
and listbox doesn't refresh itself too - initially there are only its it=
ems
(strings) visible untill I refresh it with mouse pointer;
and drawn image flickers.
Controls asociated with other tab's pages refreshes randomly.
Where are the faults?

Hi, I've managed to solve my problem with .RC files. (had to include .h files in the .rc which I didn't do...) however, thanks any possible replies (I'm on digest :) and I try to stay here. tom -- Coupe Quattro '89 Typ81 custom '84 |

Don't the instructions say to remove the older version first??? The rest of us didn't have this problem that I know of. (checked) if you're running w2k then in task manager you'll see that it could be still running in memory for a very short period afre you closed it. so click retry couple more time and see if it helped. the program that asks you to close dev-c++ is not dev-c++, it's another process launched by dev-c++. I know that some people experienced problems if they installed dev-c++ in path with spaces like c:\program files\dev-cpp - this is known bug. there are some substantial differences from 4.9.9.1 - for example new mingw with gcc 3.4.2. So you may want to try clean uninstall and then using installer to install 4.9.9.2. After you install, I would also recommend upgrading gdb to 6.3.1 - http://www.devpaks.org/show.php?devpak=184 . It fixes some problems with debugging (version 5 has problems with binary formats). gdb version 6 also fixes the problem with setting breakpoints in constructors anyway, unless you have you dev-c++ in path with spaces, when you close your dev-c++, click retry couple more times and it should work > > (Of course, I made sure I had no other instance open...) > > So here are the questions: > > -Where (path) is the downloaded package stored before installation. I believe webupdate points to PackMan.exe which is older version. the newer is Packman.exe we're working on moving this repository to sf.net -- thanks, Marek |

Hello, I am encountering something strange about the integrated Web Updater. I have ver 4.9.9.1 and want to upgrade to 4.9.9.2. After connecting to the default server (planetmirror.com), I can select the update (941kb), and download it. I then try to install it, and I get a message like: "Devcpp is currently open, close it first and retry" (Well, of course it's open, since I'm currently using the embedded update module...) So, nevermind, I close DevCpp, but I can still not install it: the same dialog box keeps popping in ("Devcpp is currently open,..."). If I hit "Abandon", I get then another message box that says "self updating" with a error sign, OK button, that's it. But nothing changed, still 4.9.9.1... (checked) (Of course, I made sure I had no other instance open...) So here are the questions: -Where (path) is the downloaded package stored before installation. It's not that it's too big, but I just hate using bandwith for something I already have on my HD. Is it the file "DevCpp.Update" that appeared, just about 942 kb ...? - If it is, how do I use (install) it ? Just rename to .exe ? Pass it to "updater.exe" ? Maybe it could be an idea giving some clues about that in the devcpp online help... - Am I the only one to have problems with that, or is it a known bug ? This is not the first time I have problems to update DevCpp, previously, I silently downloaded the entire package on bloodshed.net, but this time I thought I might tell about it, cause I think it is a great functionality, it works fine for updating other things than the devcpp kernel. Thanks to the team. |

Hi, I'm new to dev-cpp and win32 programming (switched from djgpp/rhide/dos programming). I learn the first steps form the forger's tutorial, and I progress well. however, I ran into difficulties with .rc files. the problems I ran into: - I could not compile the .rc files in the tutorial (getting error on the STYLE and the DEFPUSHBUTTON, PUSHBUTTON, etc defs) - I've tried to make a .RC file with openwatcom resource editor, but still I got similar errors - I've tried to make a compiled .RES file with openwatcom r.e. again, still no success - I've also tried to dig some resource editors, but did not find a useable one - I've looked for .RC syntax documentation, but didn't find any... so... what am I doing wrong ? :))) is there a grafical resource editor I can use with devcpp? is there a detailed description for .rc files to be used with devcpp ? tia, tom -- Coupe Quattro '89 Typ81 custom '84 |

I don't know anything about the gls package, so I can't give specific
instructions.
However, have you specified which libraries your project should use. It
isn't enough to add the path to the gls library files. If you need a
library libgls.a, you have to add a parameter -lgls to the linker options,
or the linkage will fail.

Hello
I am a new user of C and I am trying to make the gsl package to work. I
have used the Package manager to install the GSL package.
Then I want to compile and run the program
#include <stdio.h>
#include <gsl/gsl_sf_bessel.h>
int
main (void)
{
double x = 5.0;
double y = gsl_sf_bessel_J0 (x);
printf ("hej");
return 0;
}
I have added paht:s to the gls in the "Directory" menu in compiler
options.
It does not work anyway?
Have anyone else has the same problem?

Hi all, Question as subjected. I probably would like to develop some Winsock applications with DevC++ on Winscok application (no GUI, only console mode and therefore I think DevC is a pretty good choice) tks Leom |

When the program is done running, the window closes.
Insert something like a #include <cstdlib>, then at the end system("PAUSE"),
or a #include <iostream> and then at the end cin.peek(), then whack a few
character keys when you are done looking at the output.
Alternatively, run your stuff from Cygwin bash or cmd.exe windows.

Hi,
My program has a problem, when I compile and run even the simplest of
programs, the text window doesn't stay open. I have ticked the option in the
tools menu but it makes no difference. I have also tried running the latest
ver. of Dev.
I'm running win xp prof. with sp2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

However, MinGW is using Microsoft libraries, and the Microsoft libraries doesn't understand the "%llu" formatting parameter. Instead, "%I64u" must be used to print 64-bit numbers. Since the x86 architecture stores lowest byte first, "%llu" becomes "%lu" and the least significant 4 bytes gets printed and the most significant 4 bytes are left on the stack for following printf parameter declarations to use... /Per W On Sun, 6 Mar 2005, Alfred P.
