I'm not an expert myself - but maybe the compiler is treating 1000, 1000 &=20
100 as integers as there is no .0 involved? Maybe changing 1000 to 1000.0 an=
d=20
so on would resolve it? :-)
If not then back to the drawing board I'm afraid :-)

Peter, There're weird thing with float numbers when you try to round or to use the modulus division. If you use double instead of float you'll see that the problem is over. I don't know why but I had the same problem with a currency converter program. Using (int p = 100 * (float) 0.65) was converted to int 64 whilst double 0.65 was converted to int 65. Hope this helps Chemanuel __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! In your Program You tried (km_travelled%1000) I guess you wanted to find =
the remainder when km_travelled divided by 1000 The Modulus Operator % =
works only with integers. If you want to find remainder use integer =
parsing. The Corrected Program Is Included Below....
#include <iostream.h>
void main()
{
float ini_reading;
float fin_reading;
float km_travelled;
float trav_cost;
float wear_cost;
// Title.
cout << "Calculate the hire car cost. \n\n";
// Ask for initial odometer reading.
cout << "Please Enter the initial odometer reading :";
cin >> ini_reading;
// Ask for finial reading.
cout << endl;
cout << "Please Enter the finial odometer reading :";
cin >> fin_reading;
// Calculate costs.
km_travelled =3D (fin_reading - ini_reading);
trav_cost =3D (km_travelled * 0.3);
wear_cost =3D ((km_travelled / 1000) - (((int)km_travelled % 1000) =
/ 100) *
200);
// Display total hire car cost.
cout << "The total hire car cost is $" << (wear_cost + trav_cost);
cout << endl << endl;
// Finish program.
cin.ignore(1);
cin.get();
}

Hi, There may be some misunderstanding - Dev-C++ is an IDE that uses GNU gcc/g++ as a compiler. As far as I know gcc adheres to most of the ANSI/ISO standards (there may be some incompatibilities). What standard libraries & headers are you missing? Of course Dev-C++ has many features for Windows development but if you use them or not is up to you. Normally you would use -I/usr/include -I/home/xwin/include -I. That is using a capital I not L. (-L is used to include libraries). You can translate (almost) certain European languages from links at www.babelfish.com -----Original Message----- From: dev...@li... @+ Bruno > > From: dev...@li... > <mailto:dev...@li...> [ > mailto:dev...@li...]On Behalf Of Nicolas Salles > Sent: Monday, 26 February 2001 9:01 AM > To: Dev-Cpp > Subject: [Dev-C++] asm with dev-c++ ?? > > salut, kk'un aurait déjà utilisé de l'asm dans du code ? > j'ai trouvé un site sur la prog graphique qui a du code en c pour que ça > soit bien structuré et sinon c l'asm qui domine. > Mais je ne parviens pas à utiliser l'asm ;o(( > Quelqu'un pourrait-il me donner des infos ou sources, ou m'indiquer une url > pour plus d'infos. > Merci, > > Zimoro > > exemple: > > void Mode13h() > { > asm > { > mov ah, 00h > mov al, 13h > int 10h > } > } > _______________________________________________ Dev-cpp-users mailing list Dev...@li... http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dev-cpp-users |

Don't rename the lib. Don't link using -l linker options go to project options and put the path and filename in extra include files section. This might work (I hope - this is just what I do usually). -----Original Message----- From: dev...@li... [mailto:dev...@li...]On Behalf Of Bruno Sent: Friday, 2 March 2001 6:24 PM To: dev...@li... Subject: [Dev-C++] How to use a DLL Hello everybody, Here is my problem: I have downloaded a DLL witch i want to use in my program. In the DLL package there is the header file, a import library file (zlibdll.lib that i rename in libzlib.a and move to te directory "lib") and the DLL. In the project options I put -lzlib (linker options). The project is well compiled but when I run the program a message box tell me "The file prog.exe is is linked with a missing "exportation" ZLIB.DLL. Any idea ? May I clarify my E-mail. I have tried to compile Sendmail-8.10.0 and Apache 1.3.19(Windows = version). Each time, Dev-C++ Complains It can't find the headers, even If I put = all headers in one directory or the \include dir in the root folder of = Dev-C++ |

Hello. I have seen that many programs take their text buttons from the system. I'm belgian so my computer is in french. So, in many english programs, the buttons are not "Cancel" or "Help" but they are "Annuler" or "Aide". Do you know how can I get this text from the resource of the system ? Hope you'll find, thank you. |

hello pals,
I'vw want to re-write this function:
template<class T> T median(vector<T> v)
{
typedef type name vector<T>::size_type vec_sz;
vec_sz size =3D v.size();
if (size =3D=3D 0)
throw domain_error("median of empty vector");
=20
sort(v.begin(), v.end());
vex_sz mid =3D size/2;
return size % 2 =3D=3D 0 ? (v[mid] + v[mid-1]) / 2 : v[mid];
}
so that i can call it with either a vector or a built-in array. I want =
it to allow containers of any arithmetic type.
thnx
napoleon.
