Replace 'system("pause");' with 'std::cin.get();', and see what happens!
Have a good one, but if your are going to have more than one, give me a
call ;)

Jo,
That seemed to do it, the strange thing is that I am not including winnt.h?
Gracias!

Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] enum problem???
Hello
I think I've found the problem: One of your Choices' enums is a macro. I've
found DELETE defined at winnt.h. I don't know what it is used for, or how it
is included, but if you delete DELETE, or rename it, your program compiles.

I use this code:
include <stdio.h>
int main(void) {
// Do something useful here.
int c;
c = getchar();
return 0;
}

Can it be that system() fails? It simply finds a shell (cmd.exe) and
executes in it the command you wrote: in WinXP "pause" is defined, but
something can ever go wrong. Try an input, std::cin << a char if you're
using C++, instead of using system, that's less portable (maybe that not
all shells support that command).
You say in debug it works: how? Simply starting debug with no breakpoints
it stops for you to press a key? If so try redirecting output to a file to
see what normal execution printed out, this can give you more hints.
Hope I helped, bye.

It is a normal test-and-set operation.
It checks if the lock is busy or not.
If the lock was busy, it fails.
If the lock wasn't busy, it sets the lock and succeeds.
As you can see, it performs an exchange operation where it copies the
value SEMPAPHORE_C_SET to the lock, while retrieving the previous value.
If the previous value was SEMAPHORE_C_SET, the lock stays set and this
task fails.
If the previous value wasn't SEMAPHORE_C_SET, the lock will not be set and
this task has ok to perform operations on whatever critical resources the
lock is used to protect.
Most OS have functions with this or similar functionality.

Hello everyone,
I am facing the following problem.
I have a code. When I am compiling (ctrl + F9) the code I get no errors.
When I am running it (ctrl + F10) , the dos-window disappears. (I
have -system("pause") before return 0;) .
When I am debugging the code (F8), then everything is OK and I get the
results ( I store the results to a file).
Any ideas why this is happening.? Hope, I described the problem clearly.
Thanks in advace,
THeo.

hi to all..
Does anyone knows what this piece of code means...
#define sys_test_and_set(lock) \
({ \
volatile long temp = SEMAPHORE_C_SET; \
__asm__("xchgl %0,(%2)" \
:"=s" (temp) \
:"0" (temp),"r" (lock)); \

})
thanking in advance
