Hello, I need a newer libml2 package than the july 2002 one. That version (2.4.22) doesnt have xmlreader.h, which i need. I've got the 2.6 libxml source for win32, but i dont know how to use it = in devc++. How do i get this to work? Or can someone update the libxml package to 2.6? Thanks. Marcel |

I am using Dev-Cpp for development of my application but I have run into a problem with the resource file. Specifically I am trying to load an icon from the resource file not from a *.ico file. I used the shareware version of Resource Builder to see how they make this work and then borrowed" their code to see if I could get it to work in Dev-Cpp. The code attached is the copy from the resource builder *.rc file which compiles in that program but when I paste it into dev-dpp it does not compile and says that there is a parse error cause by the first line. Does anyone have any ideas that would help me? -Geoff Baker IDI_MYICON ICON MOVEABLE PURE LOADONCALL DISCARDABLE LANGUAGE LANG_NEUTRAL, 0 BEGIN '00 00 01 00 02 00 20 20 00 01 01 00 08 00 A8 08 ' '00 Watch if some header has a semicolon missing, sometimes that kind of errors are due to syntax errors in headers. Stas wrote: > I just installed Dev-C++ into the default directory. Uh? What post? If you check this, linker won't find anything of the standard library, including strcpy. > Any suggestions on what could be causing this? A _linker error_ depends from linker, headers are relative to compiler, so you'll better check the linker line to know what's going on (it writes the affected module or 'undefined reference', which means you haven't included in linking any library with that name, and this seems to be your situation). Hello This is my first post :) I hope someone could help... I want to use DevCpp for a .c source with an external makefile and externa= l headers and libraries. The FOX library name is usually spelled "libFOX.*", with uppercase letters for the "FOX" part. The link line that you showed appears to be looking for a "libfox.*", where the "FOX" part is spelled with lowercase letters. You probably need to check the list of libraries linked into your application (however that is done in Dev-C++) and change the spelling of that library from "fox" to "FOX". |

The memory occupied by the stack is Yes, if you call gcc with the -S option you'll see that _every_ global var, unless differently specified, is initialized with the 0 value, but this is true for GCC and not for all compilers. > cleared just like all the rest, only it is messed up by some initialization code > executed before main starts executing. No, the stack is never cleared (push and pop don't delete data, just declare it useless) so on its top there are datas of the other functions you invoked, or random data; but vectors are used from top to bottom, so that loop won't print that, but all internal vars previously allocated, the function (main) arguments, and so on until some of this is 0 or is reached the end of the segment (that results in a segmentation fault on Unix and an access violation in Windows).. > > If you put the same code in some other function than main it won't work (except > by chance) regardless of which compiler you use. main is a function like others; simply some compilers can decide to inizialize vars pushing zeros instead of allocating blank spaces. I can't believe compilers can allocate as globals main internal vars. Bye Ferdinando |

Hello everyone, I an new user of Dev-cpp. I am using GSL library and I would like to highlight some specific commands eg. gsl_vector_free with red color. Is it possible? I looked at "editor options" but couldn;t find anything. Thanks in advance, THeo. |

Hi all,
I'd appreciate some code review on the logic of this function I wrote.
I'm using C# (does Dev support C# ?) (with the csc.exe compiler) to reverse
a string and after a bit of struggling (though an idiotic mistake on my part
- it is really embarassing) I managed it, and would like you to have a look
at the code and tell me if there is a better way of doing it.
The logic is in question here, so don't worry about not knowing C#.
StringManip is my class which has one 'string' member we are interested in,
mCompanyName, which is being reversed.
/* ReverseSentenceByWord() is a function that reverses individual words in a
string. It does this
by looking for spaces and reverses all the letters before that
space.
*/
public void ReverseSentenceByWord(ref StringManip SentenceObj)
{
string Sentence = SentenceObj.mCompanyName;
// This number increases each time the iterator moves forward,
counting the length of the word.
int CharsInWord = 0;
// StartOfWord is a marker for where the start of the word
begins. For example the first word will
// always start at 0 (first element), but the next word may
start 7 characters in (6).
// This is required to reverse only one word at a time.
int StartOfWord = 0;
int EndOfWord = 0;
int Iterator = 0;
// What is the total length of the sentence?
int TotalChars = Sentence.Length;
// While we are not at the end of the string continue to run the
code inside
while(Iterator != TotalChars)
{
// If this is the second time around then the start of the
word variable needs to change
// (otherwise we'd be counting from the first letter every
time).
StartOfWord = Iterator;
// Same for the number of characters in the word.
CharsInWord = 0;
// Count how many characters there are from the current
iterator position to the next space.
// But be sure to guard against indexing the end of the
array.
while(Sentence[Iterator] != ' ')
{
if (Iterator == TotalChars-1)
{
// We are on the last letter so to catch it we must
increase CharsInWord.
CharsInWord += 1;
break;
}
// Look at the next character
Iterator += 1;
CharsInWord += 1;
}
// In the case of a double space the character before will
be ' ' so guard against this first of all
// by saying "if the previous char is a space then loop
again".
if ( !((Iterator-1) == ' ') )
{
// Space found, so mark the end of the word as the
iterator's position minus one (we are sitting on a space
// at the moment). We still have the starting position
stored from the previous loop (or 0 if this is the first time).
EndOfWord = Iterator - 1;
// Perform a quick check to ensure that the CharsInWord
variable is correct.
if (CharsInWord == (EndOfWord - StartOfWord))
{
Console.WriteLine("\n\nNumbers do not match\nThe
number of characters reported in the word does not match the actual
amount.\n");
}
// Store the characters from the start of the word to
the end of the word (using CharsInWord counter).
string Temp = Sentence.Substring(StartOfWord,
CharsInWord);
// We must make a copy of Temp because we will use it in
replacing Temp's letters.
string TempCopy = Temp;
/* Reverse and output to screen.
We do this by replacing the first and last elements,
then the second and second
to last elements, then the third and third to last
elements, etc.
*/
// Make a copy of CharsInWord because we will be using
this copy to count down to the middle.
int CharsInTemp = CharsInWord;
// This variable exists outside the for loop and is
added to one character at a time.
// Chars cannot be converted to string types easily but
this method works.
string ReversedString = "";
// Extract the letters from TempCopy one at a time into
ReversedString.
for(int Loop=0; Loop<Temp.Length; Loop++)
{
// Make sure CharsInTemp becomes element 7 from the
off.
if (CharsInTemp != 0)
{
CharsInTemp--;
}
/* Create many chars and concatenate them together
in the reverse order */
char CurrentChar = Temp[CharsInTemp];
ReversedString += CurrentChar;
Console.WriteLine("{0}", ReversedString);
}
}
// Move the iterator forward one.
Iterator += 1;
// Force some space between word reversal in the window.
Console.WriteLine("\n\n");
}

In FOX 1.1 (i.e. the fox-1.1.x development series) it has been renamed to FXMenuBar (with an uppercase "B"). Are the FOX header files that you're compiling against those from FOX 1.0 or FOX 1.1? If it's the former, you need the latter ;) And of course, you will need to link your executable against the corresponding version of the FOX library; if you're compiling against the fox-1.1.42 header files, be sure to link against the fox-1.1.42 version of the library. Note that the fox-1.1.x series is the unstable development version; it is quite possible that there will be API changes between whichever fox-1.1.x you're using and subsequent versions in that series. If you're looking for a stable FOX release to develop against, for now that version is FOX 1.0. Hope this helps, Lyle |
