Hello, How do i get libxml2.6 to work in Dev-c++? The only devpackage i can find is 2.4.22, which does not include stuff i need (xmlreader.h). I do have the libxml 2.6.22 source for windows downloaded, do i need to compile this? And how? Or should i make a dev-package? Thanks, Marcel |

'\0' means the ascii-code of the \0 character (note: NOT the ascii-code of '0') as far as I know, and it is also 0. So the behaviour of the two memset's are identical. It depends on the context which one is more appropriate. If you wish to initialize a character buffer with the same characters, for example, with the letter 'a', then the first form is more straight-forward: char v[1000]; memset(v,'a',sizeof(v)); /* v[1000-1] = '\0' */ But in your case, the second is better, as you initialize an integer array, and I suspect, that you wish to zero it out. int v[1000]; memset(v,0,sizeof(v)); -- Greetings, Balázs |

Note that Dev-C++ handles resources with a private part, so an #include should always be present in the rc. Ferdinando |

It's the reverse. There are a number of mathematical operations available on complex that doesn't make sense with int. pow, cos, sin, sqrt, tan, polar, ... sin and cos returns a result in the -1..1 range. An integer can only store, -1,0,1 which obvisoulsy means you can only process the angles 0, 90, 180, 270. A complex number is by mathematical definition a superset of a floating point number, containing a real and an imaginary part (each a floating point number) so obviously you can't use two integers. /Per W On Sat, 13 Dec 2003, Mohamed Iqbal wrote: > > > Some of the matematical operations are not meaningful if you can't > > represent a fractional value. > > > > /Per W > > > can you give examples for that. which basic operations make sense with > int but not with complex<int>? > > Mohammed > > > > > On Thu, 11 Dec 2003, Mohamed Iqbal wrote: > > > > > 26.2/2: The effect of instantiating the template complex for any type > other > > > than float, double or long double is unspecified. > > > > > > Does anybody know the reason for that? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > > > This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials. > > > Become an expert in LINUX or just sharpen your skills. Great book. I got it a while ago, and it is very nice. Two editors of gamedev.net wrote it. it first goes over basic win32 stuff. Finish the www.winprog.org/ tutorials and complete them after the Win32 part of the book for a better understanding. Then it goes on to OpenGL. After you can do all these OpenGL demos, you learn the parts of DirectX you will be using, and finnaly put them all together into a simple 3-D game. Note that it doesn't really cover 2D games, and you might have to reread some content to understand it. I highly reccomend it to anyone who wants to make games with OpenGL. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer > hey scott! > thanx for the info! .... by the way is OpenGL Game Programming a good > book? i have been planning on buying that one. > > dinesh. > > - Perfection or Nothing. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <age...@co...> > To: "DevCpp User Group" <dev...@li...>; "Dinesh > Pillay" <dp...@gm...> > Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2003 7:16 AM > Subject: Re: [Dev-C++] [OT] OpenGL SuperBible 1st edition > > > > I know of a site with some examples similar to that... Also, v[2] is uninitialized. That could lead to a problem. And be careful with C standard code. I know of a site with some examples similar to that... Go to http://nehe.gamedev.net/. There are several tutorials and each one has Dev-C++ optimized code as ann option! Some stuff might help you. I know how the CD thing feels. My CD to OpenGL Game Programming broke, and I have typed in at least 2,000 lines so far on a few examples, but I retyped some for different computers and reformats. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer > Hello ppl, > i have been reading the Opengl SuperBible and using devc++ to do it;s > examples ... i got the book from my friend actually and he's lost the cd > .... so i don't have the source code and it can get cumbersome to write all > of it ... hence if someone has the source could u please email it to me at > dp...@re... ... it would be of great help .. thank u > > adios, > dinesh. > > - Perfection or Nothing. > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials. > Become an expert in LINUX or just sharpen your skills. You can use Cygwin with Dev-C++. You simply have to download it and switch compilers. You simply need to change a few options. I have never done it, so cannot help you. Check the documentation for mingw and cygwin for more info, and also the Dev-C++ info. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer > Hello > > This is my first post :) > I hope someone could help... > > I want to use DevCpp for a .c source with an external makefile and external > headers and libraries. Thanks. www.gametutorials.com has some stuff on conio.h. conio.h is not a standard header, you might get some strange errors. There is no standrad conio either, it varies with compilers. I have heard the most complete header is Borland's header. You can download their command line C++ compiler for free from their website at www.borland.com. I have never used it before, but have heards you need to include conio.cpp sometimes. Some people on this mailgroup have used it. I don't use consoles for anything less than text, otherwise I go to a window and OpenGL. If OpenGL sounds cool to you, look at http://nehe.gamedev.net/. It is the best openGL resource I know of besides www.opengl.org/. I feel better, as I have already played jedi Knight 2 for four hours straight! -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer |

In regard to proper header order, there is none. I normally go like this: 1. Custom headers I have made. 2. Headers to libraries besides the standard C/C++ libraries. 3. Standard C++ Headers 4. I would look for a absic hardware API. You might be able to do this with the aid of Win32, I would check win32. Other than that, Dev-C++ comes with some libraries. You might be able to use a CD library to do this. I am not very sure about this, as i have never done any hardware access. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer |

I think .rc files vary between compilers. Do you have any industry standard compilers with you such as Borland C++ Builder, VC++ 6.0 or .NET, or at least another compiler to try the code on? I am not sure about resource files under Dev-C++. Winprog.org had some stuff on resource files, I would say try checking it out and searching the web or any books you have. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer > I am using Dev-Cpp for development of my application but I have run into a > problem with the resource file. it is Dev-C++ alright. You can use the C solution, cstdio instead of iostream. you can then use printf() to do everything. Some cout messup. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer |

What do you mean? is it an installer or a zip file? If it is an installer, run it. if it is a zip file, unzip it, and copy the files to the correct location. If it is a Dev-C++ package, use Packman. I need more info on the package. -- ~~Scott Simontis~~ Programmer |

I tried what you suggested, or at least I think I did. This how I did it: =========================================================================== Tools --> Compiler Options --> Compiler --> Add the following command when calling compiler => -D__GNUWIN32__ Tools --> Compiler Options --> Compiler --> Add this commands to the linker command line => -lFOX-1.1 Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> Binaries --> c:\cygwin\bin Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> Libraries --> c:\cygwin\lib Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> Includes --> c:\cygwin\include Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include\c++ Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include\c++\3.2 Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include\c++\3.3.1 Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include\c++\3.3.1\backward Tools --> Compiler Options --> Directories --> C++ Includes -->c:\cygwin\include\c++\3.3.1\i386-pc-cygwin =========================================================================== But I still CAN'T link, I get this error message: =========================================================================== Compiler: Default compiler Building Makefile: "C:\Dev-Cpp\Makefile.win" Executing make clean rm -f Templates/main.o Project1_private.res Project1.exe g++.exe -D__DEBUG__ -c Templates/main.cpp -o Templates/main.o -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include" -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include/c++" -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include/c++/3.2" -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include/c++/3.3.1" -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include/c++/3.3.1/backward" -I"C:/cygwin/usr/include/c++/3.3.1/i686-pc-cygwin" -I"C:\DEV-CPP\\include\fox" -D__GNUWIN32__ -g3 windres.exe -i Project1_private.rc -I rc -o Project1_private.res -O coff Option -I is deprecated for setting the input format, please use -J instead. g++.exe -D__DEBUG__ Templates/main.o Project1_private.res -o "Project1.exe" -L"C:/cygwin/lib" -lFOX-1.1 -mwindows -lfox -lwinspool -lwsock32 -lpng -ltiff -ljpeg -lz /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-cygwin/3.3.1/../../../../i686-pc-cygwin/bin/ld: cannot find -lFOX-1.1 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [Project1.exe] Error 1 Execution terminated =========================================================================== As I said in my original message, the version of FOX I am using is the one that came with the Fox.devpa; I am afraid that the problem might be due to incompatible versions of GCC. Now, I have another copy of FOX, that I compiled installed '--prefix = c:\cygwin\usr'. This copy I am sure will not have any incompatibilities with the compiler; since I use GCC 3.3.1 to compile it. The only problem is that I don't know how to setup Dev-Cpp to seek for this version of FOX. If someone would take me through the steps to set it up.. that would be VERY MUCH appreciated.
