Don't know about the resolution of the previously reported problem, but somehow there seems to be a missing #define IDC_STATIC (-1) in an include file somewhere. I have it defined in winuser.h which gets included from winresrc.h which gets included from windows.h /Per W On Fri, 17 Oct 2003, EXT-Meyer, Robert J wrote: > I'm new to windows programming and dev-c++. I'm new to windows programming and dev-c++. As I was going through an =
online tutorial, I ran across the exact same problem as yokosima on your =
mailing list dated 2003-08-12 02:48. Is this user error or a larger =
problem? His problem states:
The two lines at the bottom (commented out) gives me a 'parse error' =
when I try to compile. I basically copied & pasted it from a tutorial =
example and modified the text between the quotes and changed the ID to =
DLG_HELP which I defined in the second included header file but it won't =
work, not even before I made any changes.=20
With the GROUPBOX and CTEXT lines commented out it does work.. But what =
good is it without the taunting? :) I'm using 4.9.8.0

Can someone please tell me why my main() function isn't accepting the
redefined function of my base class? Everything seems to be compiling
correctly, but the base class printCheck function is executing and not the
derived class function.
Here are the excepts of code:
// -- BASE CLASS -- //
void Employee::printCheck() const
{
cout << "\nERROR: print_check FUNCTION CALLED FOR AN \n"
<< "UNDIFFERENTIATED EMPLOYEE. Aborting program.\n"
<< "Check with the author of the progrm about this bug.\n";
exit(1);
}
// -- DERIVED CLASS -- //
void HourlyEmployee::printCheck()
{
setNetPay(hours * wageRate);
cout <<
"\n__________________________________________________________\n";
cout << "Pay o the order of " << getName() << endl;
cout << "The sum of " << getNetPay() << " Dollars\n";
cout <<
"\n__________________________________________________________\n";
cout << "Check Stub: NOT NEGOTIABLE:\n";
cout << "Employee Number: " << getSSN() << endl;
cout << "Hourly employee.\n Hours Worked: " << hours
<< " Rate: " << wageRate << " Pay: " << getNetPay() << endl;
cout <<
"\n__________________________________________________________\n";
}
// -- MAIN -- //
HourlyEmployee joe;
joe.setName("Mighty Joe");
joe.setSSN("123-65-6547");
joe.setRate(50.20);
joe.setHours(40);
cout << "Check for " << joe.getName() << " for " << joe.getHours() << "
hours\n";
joe.printCheck();
^this call is where thing go crazy

Hi, Your code source is good compiled to me in last version of DEV C++ = 4.9.8.3. But i have question for this release (dev c++): The soft is to slow unlike 4.9.8.1,and especially when opening a project = or source in parsing mode. Why? |

Hi, I also needed access to the serial port and was trying out for a long time. The documents mentioned below helped me a lot. Try to find: The Serial-Programming-HOWTO, the Serial Programming Guide for POSIX Operating Systems and maybe the serial-HOWTO. These documents helped me a lot but I have to mention that I use the Cygwin System and I don't know whether the Mingw is providing the same header files. I also have the code of a dump terminal wich shows how to configer the serial interface. If it is helpful for you I can send you the source of this simple terminal program. With these example I derived my own class to do the basic control of the serial terminal. Greetings Frank >>> Roberto Ricardi <rob...@ar...> 10/16 3:38 >>> Hi all, I need take control over the serial ports to monitoring reads data, I saw a lot of info about c++, clases and so on. I wish to stay in c only by the while, in a console application, gcc 2.9xxx, dev-cpp & win32. Where I can found serial ports libraries to work in it ? Im confuse about. It's a variable declaration, just as
int my_integer;
Note that in C++ you can place variable declarations just about
everywhere, while a C compiler only want them at start of a block.
You must make sure that you are including the file where RASCONNSTATUS is
declared.

Can anyone, please, help me explain this statement?
I know I don't know C, but most of it at least kind of looks like familiar
things from other languages. I don't get it. It doesn't even look like a
valid statement. I have no idea where to start to look it up. It's not an
'if' or a 'print' or a loop, or a math statement, or anything you could
look up. It's just there and the compiler says it's a parse error.
RASCONNSTATUS rasConnStatus;
The rest of the subroutine is below if that helps but my main focus at the
moment is the purpose of this statement.
BTW, I tried sticking an = in there and that blew up even worse :)
ms
void wd_hangup (HRASCONN x_conn)
{
RasHangUp (x_conn);
// Wait for a second before checking to see if it's been disconnected.
//
Sleep (1000);
// Keep checking in a loop until the connection is no longer valid.
//
RASCONNSTATUS rasConnStatus;
rasConnStatus.dwSize = sizeof (RASCONNSTATUS);
while (RasGetConnectStatus (x_conn, &rasConnStatus) !=
ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE)
{
// Wait a bit before checking again.
//
Sleep (250);
}

the warning is pointing at the wrong spot, it's yelling about a declaration,
and pointing at the call in main
> warning: friend declaration `std::ostream&
>opacki::operator<<(std::ostream&, const opacki::List<ItemType>&)'
> declares a non-template function
note: friend 'declaration'
the problem is probably in class declaration
most likely:
>friend ostream& operator <<(ostream& outs, const List<ItemType>& theList);
involving the 'friend ostream&'
that is all I have found
as a guess: there is no template for a friend declaration in this context
if anyone else can find more, please let me know
if I'm chasing a wild goose, please let me know
