I'm using DevCpp 4.9.7.0 to replace Visual C++ in an open source project. All fine otherwise, but the debugger does not seem to be very co-operative. Sometimes I get some single-stepping done, but it seems to be running past my breakpoints & other not-so-welcome behaviour. Is there something special in the setup I should check, or is this a 'feature'? Does 4.9.7.0 contain 'Insight debugger' or do I need to install it separately? I'm running XP Home under Virtual PC (iMac x86 emulation) - has anyone experience from DevCpp on it? Thanks! -ak |

I haven't done a lot of work with Developer Studio .NET, so I can't say about your problem with a console + GUI but anyway... The original main() only takes 8-bit characters as parameters, making it unsuitable for unicode programs. To better support unicode, you now get a int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]); where _tmain will conditionally compile to int main(int argc, char* argv[]); or int wmain(int argc,wchar_t* argv[]); depending on if you compile your program with _UNICODE defined. I can't say what difference it is between tmain() and _tmain(). I only have a DevStudio 6.0 in front of me right now, and it only have the _tmain declaration. Normally, it is a question of linker flags if the program expects to find a main() or a WinMain(), where main() is expected for console apptiocations and WinMain() for GUI applications. I have had a couple of DevStudio 6 projects goof up quite a lot when letting DevStudio upgrade them to DevStudio.NET. A number of compiler and linker settings have become quite interesting :-) /Per W On Sun, 2 Mar 2003, Ioannis Vranos wrote: > It's time for me to ask a question. Hello dev-cpp-users, I think im a dumb or something like that! I read a lot of documentation and i cant found a solution. Let's start: I have - Dev-cpp 4.9.7.6 with gcc3.2 - Package WxWindows Development Kit (Build by Michel Weinachter) 2.4.0 - Package Contribs (Build by Michel Weinachter) 2.4.0 - Package Image libraries (Build by Michel Weinachter) 1.0.0 - WxWindows_2_4_0 setup from zip file downloaded on wxwindows.org My dirs: C:\prog\dev-cpp --> dev c++ instalation C:\prog\wxdesigner --> wxdesigner instalation C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0 --> wxWindows instalation My changes : The path have : c:\prog\dev-cpp\bin The environment variable (from control pannel > system > advanced > environment variables applet) have WXWIN C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx My dirs on dev c++ compiler options : Binaries: C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\bin Libraries: C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\lib C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw C Includes: C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include C++ Includes: C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++ C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\backward C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\bits C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\ext C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32 C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32\bits C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw\gnuwin32 My problem! Im tryng to compile some example of wxwindows. The example is the bombs1.cpp comming from WxWindows 2.4 (downloaded on wxwindows.org). My errors: - When i compile withou adding commands on calling compiler and linker: Compiler: Default compiler Executing g++.exe... g++.exe "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.cpp" -o "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.exe" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\backward" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\ext" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw\gnuwin32" -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\lib" -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw" In file included from C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/wxprec.h:13, from C:/prog/wxWindows_2.4.0/demos/bombs/bombs1.cpp:21: C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/defs.h:174: redeclaration of C++ built-in type `bool' In file included from C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/memory.h:20, from C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/object.h:25, from C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/wx.h:16, from C:/prog/wxWindows_2.4.0/demos/bombs/bombs1.cpp:24: C:/prog/Dev-Cpp/include/wx/string.h:164:4: #error "Please define string case-insensitive compare for your OS/compiler" Execution terminated */\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\MY ERROR/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\* - When i use the options : compiler> -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -fno-pcc-struct-return -fstrict-aliasing -Wall -D__WXMSW__ -D__GNUWIN32__ -D__WIN95__ linker> -lwxmsw -lole32 -lwsock32 -lcomctl32 -lctl3d32 -lgcc -lstdc++ -lshell32 -loleaut32 -ladvapi32 -luuid Compiler: Default compiler Executing g++.exe... g++.exe "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.cpp" -o "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.exe" -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -fno-pcc-struct-return -fstrict-aliasing -Wall -D__WXMSW__ -D__GNUWIN32__ -D__WIN95__ -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\backward" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\ext" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw\gnuwin32" -lwxmsw -lole32 -lwsock32 -lcomctl32 -lctl3d32 -lgcc -lstdc++ -lshell32 -loleaut32 -ladvapi32 -luuid -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\lib" -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw" C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\bin\..\lib\gcc-lib\mingw32\3.2\..\..\..\..\mingw32\bin\ld.exe: cannot find -lwxmsw */\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\MY ERROR/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\* Execution terminated - When dont put the -lwxmsw option: Compiler: Default compiler Executing g++.exe... g++.exe "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.cpp" -o "C:\prog\wxWindows_2.4.0\demos\bombs\bombs1.exe" -fno-rtti -fno-exceptions -fno-pcc-struct-return -fstrict-aliasing -Wall -D__WXMSW__ -D__GNUWIN32__ -D__WIN95__ -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\backward" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\ext" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\c++\mingw32\bits" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx" -I"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw\gnuwin32" -lole32 -lwsock32 -lcomctl32 -lctl3d32 -lgcc -lstdc++ -lshell32 -loleaut32 -ladvapi32 -luuid -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\lib" -L"C:\prog\Dev-Cpp\include\wx\msw" C:\DOCUME~1\Gametha\CONFIG~1\Temp/ccE9taaa.o(.text+0x6e):bombs1.cpp: undefined reference to `wxTheColourDatabase' . . . .
