Abhijit, thanks for your quick reply. The compiler itself i= s a modified gcc for ARM processors. The SDKs which contains= the compilers are for free downlaod at: http://www.symbian= .com/developer/SDKs.html (purpose of the SDKs is integration= with Metroworks Codewarrior IDE) The downloads are huge and= a big hassle to install ! Hello, Roberto. > Has anybody managed to integrate the Symbian C++ SDKs into > dev-C++ for compiling code targeted to mobile devices ? I assume you are talking about using a C++ cross-compiler, or whatever it is called, in Dev-C++. I have written a utility to allow Dev-C++ to use unsupported compilers (by mapping arguments and re-formatting output). It is available here: http://mudeth.tripod.com/dev_star.html As of now, there is support only for Turbo C++ (tested) and Borland C++ 5.0 (untested). However, if you can point out a working copy of the compiler, I'll be glad to write a plug-in for it. -- Abhijit Shylanath Homepage: http://mudeth.tripod.com/ |

Yes, as you see, it tells you, that time_t is not declared. Which means, that (assuming you have -DWIN32 on command line) sys/timeb.h is not going to be good for you. I suppose, that they used MSVC for the library's Windows port, and probably sys/timeb.h worked well for them. It is only my guess though. Anyway, if you look at <sys/time.h>, you'll notice, that it actually includes <time.h>, which has time_t. So what you need is: <sys/time.h> I guess you already noticed all the above, as you asked about the difference details. I cannot tell you that, as I have never worked with time stuff under linux. Maybe a linux guru here can tell you more. I hope this helps. -- Greetings, Balázs |

Hi, I wonder if this will get considered at all, but anyway. I find the default shortcut for closing the current file quite annoying (I don't even know if it's customizable)... Alt+F4 is used throughout Windows for closing the entire application, and Ctrl+F4 is used (within MDI apps) for closing the current MDI child window... it's not proper style for Dev-C++ to go ahead and switch those around.. using Alt+F4 for closing a file (and I can't seem to find a shortcut for closing the application). I wonder if this could be changed to the default Windows behaviour... Alt+F4 for closing the application, Ctrl+F4 for closing the current file. Thanks in advance, Paul |

Hi
How can i use the profiler in Dev C++ ? I check the correct linker
options ('generate debug information' and 'generate profiling
information' too) both in the proyect options and compiler options (just
to make sure ;)
But after building successfully my app I get the following messege when
I choose "Profiler Analysis" from Compile Menu:
"Please run the proyect at least once so that profiling info is
generated..."
And yes, I´ve run my proyect not once but n-times and i still get the error.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Thank you for helping me. Yes actualy the file contains the following: #ifdef linux #include <stdio.h> #endif which I guess means the include is done only for linux but since I wortk for windows... I wonder why the designers of that system put that line. Any idea...? Since this is the first time I work withprogramming in windows I have none. Anyway I send a message asking that to the designers of the system. I hope they answer as fast as you. Thank you very much.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another question. In another file called arutils.h I got #ifdef WIN32 #include <sys/timeb.h> #endif #ifdef linux #include <sys/time.h> #include <unistd.h> #endif and as a result I got an error message saying that: C:\\PROGRA~1\\ACTIVM~1\\ARIA\\include\\ariaUtil.h:558: `time_t' was not declared in this scope Can someone tell me about these library details diferences in windows and linux??? Hello dev-cpp-users, I want to compile code from an OpenGL tutorial that uses libjpeg to read textures from a jpeg file. Unfortunatly, whenever I try to compile the code, I get linker errors for all libjpeg functions. (I use the -ljpeg parameter.) I searched the Dev C++ forums and a lot of other people seem to have the same problem, but none of them received a helpful reply. Maybe somebody here knows a sollution ? Thanks, Dennis |

Is it a mistake of DevC++? No, it is likely a mistake of MinGW, the compiler in Dev-C++. Head on to http://www.mingw.org for details, and send a bug report. It is good that you have found it. But first, download the latest Win32 API headers and libraries from the website (win32api), and see if it is fixed. -- Greetings, Balázs |

Yes, but because of buffering, it will only return, when you press an
'enter'. And actually, I was wrong, it is getchar().

Hello everybody. I would appreciate very much if someone can answer me the following: 1) I am using a system with some libraries. When I try to compile a program with those libraries I get a lot of errors. But just check the first one: C:\PROGRA~1\ACTIVM~1\ARIA\include\ArLog.h:83: ANSI C++ forbids declaration `FILE' with no type C:\PROGRA~1\ACTIVM~1\ARIA\include\ArLog.h:83: parse error before `*' Now checking that line in "ArLog.h" we have: protected: static FILE *ourFP; But that is a prefectly fine line as fas as I know. Why does DevC++ protest about this? Ansi forbids FILE with no type???? I don't get it. 2) Hasnt nobody notice the mistake in file "c:\dev-c...\include\winsock2.h " In the last lines there is a '#' missing which makes the compile protest of unbalanced #endif's Did someone notice? Is it a mistake of DevC++? (Which by the way is wonderful! because I have never have hade these kind of weird errors and that is wyh I am perplexed) Please Help me. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 1) Go to Tools menu -> Configure tools
2) Click the Add button
3) Type:
Title: Run in a DOS box
Program: c:\windows\command.com
Working directory: <PROJECTPATH>
Parameters: /K <EXENAME>
4) Every time you want to run it, go to Tools -> Run in a DOS box.

The debate about which piece of code to use to stop the window from closing
is very interesting and educational and I thank all contributors
BUT
My question is can it be done without adding code.
The problem only occurs when I compile and run in DEV-C
When I take the work in to uni, they run it on grasp or something else where
this problem doesnt occur.
SO
My Question Is
is the not a setting in DEV-C that will make it keep the window open??
eg this is a DEV-C question not a C programming question
thanking all for your assistance

heck he's programming for DOS, let him use system("PAUSE").
it goes against the very nature of programming to get() or cin or scanf etc
when you dont want to!
i mean, sure it does the trick, but it doesnt 'wait for an 'enter'' it waits
to read in the next character or string or whatever.
i dunno, i'm being pedantic i know. ;)
but how many other platform have console windows which open and close like
they do in windows??

heck he's programming for DOS, let him use system("PAUSE").=20
it goes against the very nature of programming to get() or cin or scanf e=
tc when you dont want to!
i mean, sure it does the trick, but it doesnt 'wait for an 'enter'' it wa=
its to read in the next character or string or whatever.
i dunno, i'm being pedantic i know. ;)
but how many other platform have console windows which open and close lik=
e they do in windows??

Hi everyone,
I think the quickest way to access a portion of a file is to structure it,
then use the fseek function from stdio.
In the case we are considering, the data for each room should be about the
same size. For example, if the data for a room is 500 bytes, each room's
data can be stored in a file at 500 byte intervals, then accessed using the
standard library routines. So to access room 50, you would set the file
pointer at 50 x 500.
fseek(room_file_pointer, room_number * 500, SEEK_SET);
If the data for each object is large, several files may be needed, maybe
with an index file.
