Hi! Is there a way of getting formatted data from a C++ string, apart from=20 sscanf()? In particular, I would like to get integers from a string. And since we are here, I would also like to know, whether there is a=20 function to get words from a string (like the << operator for streams)? Thanks in advance. -- Greetings, Bal=E1zs |

Is it possible to use the Dev-Cpp IDE with other langues based on gcc such as ADA, FORTRAN, and ObjectiveC? _______________________________________________ |

All,
Thanks for your suggestions to add=20
system("PAUSE");
before the return. I tried it and all I got for my trouble was -
6 c:\docume~1\steve\mydocu~1\myeboo~1\newcur~1.cpp
implicit declaration of function `int system(...)'
which is why the book instructions probably told me to delete this =
line.
There must be some other trick to it or something. I am running =
software on Microsoft Windows XP.

Look at this makefile.win for simple gtk "hello-world" application
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPP = g++.exe
CC = gcc.exe
WINDRES = windres.exe
RES =
OBJ = main.o $(RES)
LINKOBJ = main.o $(RES)
LIBS = -L"D:/Dev-Cpp/lib" -Ld:/dev-cpp/lib -lgtk-win32-2.0 -lgdk-win32-2.0 -latk-1.0 -lgdk_pixbuf-2.0 -lpangowin32-1.0 -lgdi32 -lpango-1.0 -lgobject-2.0 -lgmodule-2.0 -lglib-2.0 -lintl -liconv

CXXFLAGS = $(CXXINCS)
CFLAGS = $(INCS)-Id:/dev-cpp/include/gtk-2.0 -Id:/dev-cpp/lib/gtk-2.0/include -Id:/dev-cpp/include/atk-1.0 -Id:/dev-cpp/include/pango-1.0 -Id:/dev-cpp/include/glib-2.0 -Id:/dev-cpp/lib/glib-2.0/include -mms-bitfields

rm -f $(OBJ) $(BIN)
$(BIN): $(OBJ)
$(CC) $(LINKOBJ) -o "try.exe" $(LIBS)
main.o: main.c
$(CC) -c main.c -o main.o $(CFLAGS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note, that there must be -mms-bitfields option. You can add it
manually to project options - parameters - compiler.
You can create Dev-cpp template with all needed options. Note that it
must be C project. In your makefile:
-------------------------------------------
$(BIN): $(OBJ)
$(CPP) $(LINKOBJ) -o "Gtk_Test.exe" $(LIBS)
-------------------------------------------
you are using C++ compiler - $(CPP).

Look at gtkmm (www.gtkmm.org), it's a thin wrapper for Gtk+. It has
tutorial in installation pakage and many examples.
gtkmm is much more easy than Gtk+.

It might be useful to specify your question.
Generally there is no difference, using strings with Dev C++ or with an
other IDE:
#include<iostream> // for cout ( and others )
#include<cstring> // for string
...
string xy; // defined
xy = "something"; // assign a content (and allocate the necessay memory)
xy..append("\nsomething else in a new line"); // appending this to the
existing content (and expand the necessay memory)
cout<<"Content of xy: " << xy << endl; // Showing the content
...
Have a look to C++ string-"management", eg. at
http://www.cppreference.com/cppstring.html
Regards
Achim
