The file not found is iostream and not apstring.h. The rule is: if the included file is embraced by <>, the file have to be located in the include dir. If the include is embraced by "" the compiler searches the included file in the current dir, then in the include dir. P.S. Sorry for my English. I'm Italian ! ) ( [_] Johnny |

I am converting some code from various other programming languages into C++. However, I really want to build a library of functions within various C++ files. However, I am not certain how to call functions from different cpp files. I assume include the .cpp file. However, do I put the function prototype in the code calling the function or leave everything in my functions.cpp file? Any help, advise and pointers would be greatly appreciated... Thanks.. |

Ok, I'm somewhat of a newbie, though I know how to do MS-DOS stuff, which is what I'm using Dev-C++ for now. Anyway. I found the code used in "aptring.h" and "apstring.cpp" on the internet, and made files by those names with that code in Dev-C++. In my program, I use the following include commands: #include <aptring.h> #include "apstring.cpp" The Compiler is able to find apstring.cpp, but not apstring.h. I have apstring.h in both My Documents (where I save everything to) as well as the "Include" subfolder of the Dev-C++ folder. The error message I get from the Compiler is: "C:\ALEX'S~1\DEV-C_~1\Include\apstring.h:4: iostream : No such file or directory" Dev-C++ is extracted to C:\Alex's Xtras\Dev-C++ The file is in: "C:\Alex's Xtras\Dev-C++\Include" Can anyone help? To all those who had a problem with vUpdate. I'm glad to say it's okay. I just upgraded from Devcpp 4.9.7.0 to 4.9.7.5. Thanx to all you guys who fix our problems for us. Hi,
I am facing a strange problem with an edit control that I use
as a status window.
The control is created with this call to CreateWindow:
(line breaks may be garbled by the mailer..)
CreateWindow("edit", "",
WS_CHILD | WS_DLGFRAME | WS_VISIBLE | WS_VSCROLL | ES_MULTILINE |
ES_READONLY, 10, 25, 470, 160, hwnd,
(HMENU) ID_STATUS, hProgInst, NULL);
I catch the WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC message like this:
case WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC:
{
if(GetDlgCtrlID((HWND)lParam) =3D=3D ID_STATUS)
{
SetBkMode((HDC)wParam, TRANSPARENT);
SetTextColor((HDC)wParam, RGB(50, 50, 150));
return (LRESULT)GetStockObject(LTGRAY_BRUSH);
}
}break;
This gives me blue text on a lightgray background in the control.
Now comes the problem: If the text in the edit control is large
enough that the user needs to move the scrollbar to see the text, the
text becomes garbled, ie the edit control does not repaint it's
window correctly.
If, however, I don't change the color of the control (by not catching
the WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC message), everything is fine, and the control
repaints just fine when scrolling.
What am I missing here?

Sometime ago I updated to Dev C++ 4.9.7.1 Until now I´ve been very happy with each new update. Now I try to get the critical update. I tried several times, but each time download is very slow and stops at about 20%. Any suggestions? Thanks, Wobien |

I recently tried to switch to the "official" MinGW/MSYS, so I:
- uninstalled Dev-C++
- deleted everything (except my current works) from Dev-Cpp dir
- installed MingW
- installed MSYS
- compiled wxWindows with MSYS to check if everything works :-)
Now vUpdate complains (not allowing to copy and paste the error message,
so retyping here, AAARGHH!):
* Error: Your devcpp.cfg file is missing
the $INCLUDE field in its
[VUPDATE] section...
Well, the devcpp.cfg file is *missing* in the first place. I deleted it
when uninstalling the compiler-equipped version, and the installer of
the exe-only version didn't recreate it. Too bad. I can't autoupdate.
Please help ASAP.
Best regards,
Szczepan Holyszewski
