In a platform the type long could be a 64-bit type. I mean that it is not safe to think long as less than 64-bit or anything specific. In C99 there is the type long long, however nothing restriccts it to be 128-bit in another platform. Unavoidably a size-specific type is implementation-dependent and thus code using it cannot be considered portable (even when using the int64_t C99 type, since it is not required to be implemented. This kind of things in C99 is one of what i do not like in C99). But then again, you often have to work with (at least) 64-bit integers to solve real problems. The choice often is: solve with gcc and long long, or not getting the work done at all. Multi-precision math libraries might not be fast enough, and if the customer doesn't have a 64-bit machine... /Per W On Wed, 16 Oct 2002, Ioannis Vranos wrote: > (signed) long long and unsigned long long is not an ANSI / ISO C++ type. > =20 > =20 > =20 > Ioannis >=20 > * Ioannis Vranos > * Programming pages: http://www.noicys.freeurl.com > <http://www.noicys.freeurl.com/>=20 > * Alternative URL: http://run.to/noicys >=20 > -----Original Message----- > From: dev...@li... > [mailto:dev...@li...] On Behalf Of J=F6rgen > Sent: Wednesday, October 16, 2002 2:00 AM > To: dev...@li... > Subject: [Dev-C++] Need help with vector<...> >=20 >=20 > Hi again. > =20 > If I place the following line in the header file "ComputerPlayer.h" as a > private member of my class "ComputerPlayer" > =20 > vector< pair< unsigned long long, pair< vector< pair<int, double> >, > vector< pair<int, double> > > > > legalVect; > =20 > the program compiles and links just fine, but it's terminated almost > immediately when run. > =20 > I'm going to use the vector in two different functions, thats why I need > it as a member of the class.=20 > For debugging purposes, I implemented it as a local member in one of the > functions (At the moment the only one of the two implemented), see > below. Question about I am not sure, and I prefer ask before trying it, surely stupid fears, but... I want prove to associate a file type with a winGUI program, just by double click on it, then the dialog open with... (I use an extension which has no associations), choose there my program, select use it, click always, and after that double click on it. When a file is opened this way, what happens? I think is that it makes something like a call from command prompt program file or so, so I should manage the third and fourth parameters of the winmain function, isn't it?. And must I do something else?, about registry or so. I searched in altavista but I don't find anything helpful |

A static member is a regular global namespace entity (object or function) which for notational purposes is defined inside the class definition (and the function as a member function style while it is not). For static integral members the initialization can be done inside the class declaration without needing an external definition as with other types. This is only supported by recent compiler releases (compiler vendors had more important ANSI C++ things to implement than that in the past). Where can I find documentation, help on C Standard library ( and others libraries ) provided by devc++ 4.0.1 ( mingw gcc 2.95.2 ). For example if I need an 'random' function, I must for the moment search the word 'rand' in all the header files ( .h ) to finally find that this function in mingw is called srand and is defined in stdlib.h. Is there an interactive help ( html with index, ... ) Thanks for your help. I am sure that the only way to initialise static members si with a static
member function, but I don't know about vectors.
Is static const int size = 10; actually allowed?

At last I found the problem!
compiling with -fvtable-thunks is causing this simple program to crash:
#include <iostream>
#include <sstream>
using std::stringstream;
int main()
{
stringstream s;
s << endl;
return 0;
}
Why? How can I solve it?
If you ask why I use -fvtable-thunks it's because I code in directX!
thanks!

Yap, I´ll need a lots of HOWTOs to play friendly with the powerfull GNU world in a win32 style, cos Im not a programmer that is really funny !.
