Actually, <filname> looks in your specified include directories, whil "filename" looks in the current. It doesn't search in subdirectories unless you tell it to. I'm assuming you're trying to use functions defined in a library file. Also assuming that the .a or .lib is in your \lib directory, you will want to add "-l<libname>" to your projects options, without the <>s. At 01:30 PM 07/02/2003 -0200, Lucas K. Sorry for this problem I will release a new devpack soon (after the FOSDEM). Yes, it may be more stable, but still, it has bugs, and I think what Gabriele was exepriencing is exactly a consequence of that... who knows h= ow well it works on a win98SE system? I know it runs on WinXP, but still it crashes a LOT over here, I used it for about 2 weeks before I moved back = to 4.0, way too many bugs... I advice anyone to use 5.0 but only for helping= on tests, as it probably (when finish) will kick 4.0's butt heh but as for n= o, it still runs a lot worse... so... hehehe Good Luck with that anyway, and sorry for stretching this discussion... lkt153 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Osmari" <dan...@ya...> To: "Lucas K. However, it comes from the Linux world, so don't know if it is of help on a Windows system. Probably you will need things like "MinGW msys" package or CygWin. I have never tried this myself. Ok... first .h files are header, not lib files... to include a header, it doesn't matter within which subdirectory of "include" it is, all you have to do is: #include <headername.h> it doesn'= t need the path, as long as it's within a subdirectory, If I'm not mistaken= , the difference between using " and < when in #include statments is that, = < will look for subdirectories... Also as for lib files, they're under your lib directory and are named lik= e libblah.a so to include a file called like that you go to: Project >> Project Options and under "Further Object files..." type in -llibname... sorta like, let's say you wante dot include "libwsock32.a" you'd type in: "-lwsock32" Hope this helps you out... lkt153 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Latrice Wicker" <Lat...@co...> To: <dev...@li...> Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 12:54 PM Subject: [Dev-C++] Hi, E-mail Premium BOL Antiv=EDrus, anti-spam e at=E9 100 MB de espa=E7o. I believe that version 4.9.7.0 is the latest version also called 5.0b, = right? Version 5.0b is filled with errors, there are many errors in supporting = languages other than english too... don't worry about it, the 5.0b = versions are under test, you should really use the 4.0 version of it and = report bugs concerning 5.0b so they can fix those... I believe the = address for bugs report is: www.bloodshed.net/bugs or something like = that, they have a link to it on the site, and on the docs too, I = tihnk... Hi,
I am having problems using external libraries with Dev-C++.I put the libr=

then put the following preprocessor directive statement
#include <lvp\string.h>
in my source program. When I try to compile and run the program it gives=
me errors and locks up the compiler. Help!

Hi all
I just installed the WxWindows DevPack in Dev-C++ 4.9.7.5, started a new GUI
project and tried to compile. That is, I did not do anything by my self, but
got these error message from the compiler. Anyone knows what's going on and
how to fix it?
